With the possable exception of Neelix and Kes, Tom and B'Elanna are are the couple the producers put together, despite their regular arguments Tom and B'Elanna have lasted the tests and gone the distance. We have watched as they first admited their love in a rather strange way, in (Blood Fever) after Vorik transmitted a vulcan cemical imbalance to B'Elanna while he was undergoing the Vulcan Pon Farr. Because of this imbalance she starts to show more than an interest in Tom, while on an away mission to gather material for the ship. To resolve the matter after spending time avoiding B'Elanna's wouldbewelcomed advances Tom is told by Tuvok her time is up aand he must help her resolve the Pon Farr. As the two get started Vorik shows up and askes to fight for her B'Elanna takes the fight and the two resolve the Pon Farr by fighting.
from here on in we watch as the couple have argument after argument and still manage to make up the end result is the couple tieing the knot and having a child. which was born just in time to get home to the Alpha quodrant.
