INFERNAL HAILS TO YOU, HOPE
ALL IS GOING WELL FOR YOU. PLEASE INFORM US ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR BAND.
YOUR ALBUM “PAGAN INFINITUM’’ WAS RELEASED LAST YEAR, WHAT HAS THE RESPONSE BEEN
TOWARDS IT? ARE YOU PLEASED WITH ITS RESPONSE?
I'm very very underground.
I don't like to market because I do this for my art. I have released probably
only 400 cds of my various albums to radio stations and magazines generally.
People download my music alot now from the internet. Its a good feeling when the
music effects people, but not many metal heads act like cheerleaders. The scene
in the USA is average. I really see no money, especially since I don't play out
live yet. Pagan Infinitum is a compilation from all my albums from 1995-2001.
The albums included are Darkness Divine 1995-6), Millenium (1998), and The
Majestic Path of a Hermits Forest (2000), plus some new songs.
WHY DO
YOU CHOOSE TO KEEP THIS AS A SOLO PROJECT?
I think I'm a tyrant ha ha .
Well, I'm selfish with the music and the ambience of the whole Fiend project.
Thats my own star. Although, I have different people wanting to unite with me
either with Fiend or another project. If I do play out live, I'd have session
players perhaps.
ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON NEW MATERIAL FOR A NEW
RELEASE?
Yes, I'm very proud of whats happening with the music. The
recording sound is better. I do everything, including the mastering. I may send
you the newest material including the previous Pagan Infinitum. I don't want to
say what the title of the new album will be. Some song titles on the new release
are Archetype Genocide, and Voshmibon. But all I will say is, that this album
will be dedicated to the dead and my roots in ancient Armenia. The old world of
Uratu.
WHAT IS THE WRITING PROCESS FOR YOU?
I must feel
inspired. When I am, I put the energy into my guitar. The rest comes into place
such as the lyrics and drums.
WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION TO
WRITE WHAT YOU DO?
I am inspired by Nature, the Universe, the archetypes
of life and death, anger, pain, sorrow, and bliss.
ARE THEY DERIVED
FROM DREAMS/NIGHTMARES, OR REAL LIFE INCIDENCES?
I really don't try to
think too much when I write the music. I let it just happen to what I am
feeling, either "real life" or metaphysical feelings.
I WOULD BE
ASSUMING THAT BECAUSE THIS IS A SOLO PROJECT THAT YOU DON’T PLAY LIVE, BUT IF
THE OPPORTUNITY AROSE, WOULD YOU COMPILE A COMPLETE BAND TO PLAY
LIVE?
Yes, definitely. It feels great to be on stage with the lights and
dark surroundings. I love the bass drum pounding while I assault my ibanez.
Plus, that would be great to spread the music.
WHAT GENRE OF METAL
WOULD YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF TO BE?
I'd say black / death
metal.
WHAT ARE YOUR OPINONS ON THE CURRENT METAL TREND?
I
think black metal is a great compliment to death metal, and vice versa. When the
death metal scene was getting a little stale after the late 80's and early 90's,
black metal gave a fresh perspective which helped death metal I think. I know it
did for me.
DO YOU THINK IT IS BECOMING STRONGER OR BECOMING WEAKER
DUE THE CLIMAX OF FAKE TRENDY WANNABES?
Its really annoying to see the
scenes flood with too many bands. I like how its getting more underground, maybe
the less bullshit fame, the more real musicians who play for the
music.
WHAT EXACTLY ARE SOME OF YOUR INFLUENCES?
I am
influenced by Nietzsche, the stars, Death (the real thing) haha, and bliss. I
feel both happiness in sorrow.
DO YOU HAVE ANY MENTORS IN THE MUSIC
INDUSTRY?
NONE
LAST RITES?
Death is the greatest
