Billy's Personal History

In 1995, my mother was diagnosed with a lump and had a small episode of  breast cancer.  At that time, I was getting very big.  I weighted 315+ pounds and size 50 around the waist.  I decided to take charge of my life and loose a little weight.  I started watch http://www.grahamkerr.com/ on the travel channel.  He used to come out with his walking cane running with full energy.  I believe it was his 1992 series.  I still have some on tape.  I decide to do the low fat diet.  I lost weight on this diet.
I dropped  to 195 pounds and 42 inches around the waist.

The only problem is I never could get rid of what they call Love Handles.  You know the big spare tires around the waist.    I started a low carb diet called the Protein Power plan.  It was created by Michael R. Eades, MD and Mary Dan Eades, MD.   They stressed eating protein and low carbs.  After I started this diet, I was shocked.  My weight went up but my size got smaller.  They taught me through their book that it's not about weight.  It's about fat and size that matters.  We want to be lean and mean (figuratively speaking) burning machines.  We need to build muscles.  Indeed, I was building muscle and my size was going down.  I stayed at 35 carbs for a long time and ate all the protein and fat I wanted.  While on this diet, I went to 215 pounds but my size dropped from 42 down to about 37.  I  developed a stall on this diet.

After I stalled, I started initializing a low fat version of it.  One of the reason I started a lower fat version, I started developing a problem with
Arachidonic acid.  A dangerous substance that can lead to heart disease, and other problemsI learned that the Arachidonic acid problem was associated with high fat meats.   I replaced the high fat meats with lean protein.    Supplementing with Fish Oil and Lean Protein corrected the Arachidonic acid problem I was having.  It restored the balance.  I replaced the high fats found in meat with healthy fats like Olive Oil, Canola Oil, Walnut Oils and Nut Oil but I do portion control them.    This seemed to correct the problem. 

I have been battling weight for a long time.  I've come a long way.  I joined a list called the Atkins Support Group located at Onelist.  I wanted to help people and prevent the problems that I had while doing a diet.  Some of the girl members (it was only the females who attacked me), took my helpful  information and turned it into a pregnancy issue.  I got tired of the mistreatment on this list and left.  The members on this list  seem to think they know it all.  Their way is the only way and I was wrong.    Year and years of weight battling and what I found to help people was shot down by this group of females.  I would avoid this list at all cause.  They are leading people down the wrong path.  They are a danger to society and should not be allowed on the list.  What they are saying on the list could wind up killing someone some day. 

Please avoid this list.  Take it from someone who has been there and done that.  If you follow my healthy plan, I think you will be please with the results.

Low Carb, Lean Protein, Reduced Fat (Not NO fat just portion control it - and make it a good fat)

Of course the Atkins Support Group says I'm wrong.  But you have to look at from another point.  Their sources are out dated as well.  They are not current like mine are.
