This page
is dedicated to the presentation of free on-line indexes to Middlesex Marriages.
At present it provides a covering page to Sandy Coleman's index, but interest
has been expressed in transcribing other Middlesex parishes and this page
is prepared to host them or point to them for anyone who wishes to submit
them. Press the following button to access the index on Sandy's web
site. Read below and see the map to understand the coverage and background.
The parishes covered by the records in Sandy's index consist of about two thirds of those contained in the area left remaining in the County of Middlesex after the creation of the County of London in 1889; although the marriages indexed go back well before that (to the 16th century). The map below shows the coverage area, with the parishes covered named in green.

A number of other parishes within the area are mentioned in the Notes & Comments to some entries (for example "of Old Brentford").
It is not
known if the coverage for each parish is either complete or accurate. Users
are advised to consult the original parish registers for ultimate confirmation.
Middlesex parish registers are mostly held by the London
Metropolitan Archives. There are also some at the Westminster Archives,
Poplar Library, and Guildhall Library, etc. For further information, please
consult the
Middlesex pages
of GENUKI.
CALL FOR INPUT
If anyone
out there is thinking of transcribing other Middlesex parishes not covered
by Sandy's index, I would be glad to receive them and make them available
via this page. You input must be provided in an electronic form and must
cover all the marriage records in a parish (at least within reasonable
limits, eg 16th to 19th centuries). You will be given full credit for your
work and you will retain content copyright. Otherwise, just let me know
whereabouts they are on the web and I will add a link and put them on my
map.
PROBLEMS ?
If you experience any problems accessing or searching the database please address them to Sandy, since the database and search engine are on her web site (where you go after pressing the big button).
I will
be please to address any queries, problems, or suggestions regarding this
page only.
