Welcome to Eddie's Place. I am in the process of setting up on new servers, following the closure of the British Library service. Please bear with me as many links may not work. I am also extensively updating the site. I have added some temporary notes in pink where necessary to help with site navigation.

My intention is to concentrate on the family history stuff (which was the original reason for creating the site). I can’t say what else you might find here, but thematerial on my East End roots is likely to continue, and is particularly relevant to both the Bennett family history, and Cane family history. So here's an old postcard of Angel Lane to be going on with. I would place this somewhere in the 1950s. The building at the far end on the right is the Theatre Royal London East of Joan Greenwood fame (Sparrers Can't Sing and Oh What a Lovely War, etc). I lived just around the corner in the 1960s and it hadn't changed much from the postcard. It's all gone now except the theatre, and of course Stratford is now primarily wrapped up in the Olympics (if only with amazing foresight and some money I had bought our council flat).

I am now based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire (aka 'emel 'empstead).

Please let me know what you think of the site content and format, or if any of it does not work (eg broken links). Until I find a way of restoring my feedback form (I know the ‘let me know’ above no longer works) please e-mail me at (replace the AT with an @).

This has nearly 300 sites. At one time there was a lot of non-genealogical dross cluttering up this rather large ring, but this seems to have improved. There are commercial sites as well as amateur ones.
