Motorcycle Safety & Information Resources

Purpose: To participate in parades and other ceremonies which are in keeping with the Aims and Purposes of the American Legion. To promote motorcycle safety programs and to provide a social atmosphere for American Legion members who share the same interest. To use our Association to promote and support programs of the American Legion, share our love for the open road, and maintain our camaraderie as "Brothers in Arms".

Membership: There are but two requirements to become a member of the Post 88 American Legion Riders Association. (You must meet both A & B). Complete Application

A) You must be a current paid member of the American Legion, Auxiliary, or Sons of the American Legion.

B) You must own a motorcycle of at least 350cc in size or be a legal spouse of an owner who is an American Legion Riders Association member.

C) The Ashland chapter will allow "honorary members" or "chapter supporters". The honorary type memberships do not constitute actual voting membership in the American Legion Riders. These memberships are of a nature as to provide recognition to those who show strong support to the Ashland American Legion Riders Chapter. These honorary members must still meet the requirements of Section 1A and be current members of the American Legion, Auxiliary, or Sons of the American Legion. Furthermore, all articles of clothing that contain the American Legion Riders emblem must contain the word "Honorary".

Charter Period: The Chartering period for the Post 88 Chapter of the American Legion Riders shall end on December 31, 2005. All those who have turned in the required application and paid the required annual dues of $10.00, shall be known as "Charter Members."

Dues: Annual dues shall become payable beginning January 1st of each year and shall entitle the member to all benefits and privileges as a member of the Post 88 Chapter Member. A member must be in good standing with their associated American Legion, Auxiliary, or Sons of the Legion membership before their annual American Legion Riders membership will be accepted and acknowledged.

TIPS (Thanks to our fellow District 5 Riders for the tips!)
- Vest should have the lacing on the sides so it may be expanded to fit over your coat. I recommend Route 30 Biker Leathers on Laver Rd. Mansfield. Great Quality at an Affordable Price. You really can get them anywhere you like though.
- I recommend checking your vest for the large (Biker Style) snaps. Most vest extenders do  not come with the smaller snaps. You may not be able to find them if you want them and you likely will want them.
-The American Flag patch (if worn) should be the highest patch on the vest (Note: the flag patch on our sample here should be a little higher so that it is above the POW/MIA patch that is on the other side)
- The "Fallen Heroes Patch" may be replaced with Branch of Service Patch or whatever you want.
- POW/MIA may be replaced with what ever you want.
