Welcome to Bear Gait Kennels, American Stafforshire Terriers and American Pit Bull Terriers. We are a new kennel located in Northern California. I currently have a few AKC/UKC American Staffordshire Terriers. I mostly show my dogs and handle some dogs for other people. When I breed I would prefer to breed large muscular  (angulated) rears, large bone, wide straight strong front's, and a good solid top line, with a stylish yet proportionate head, while staying inside our breed standard and without sacrificing movement or temperament. Over time I hope to produce over all great AST's or APBT's. Bear Gait, Breeds For Quality, NOT color or quantity! This site is dedicated to promoting a positive look at the AST & APBT breed, and my journey in creating the perfect dogs! -CasSandra

Our Brief History:
I’d like to start of by saying that Bear Gait is not really a fully functional kennel, in a sense. I’ve never actually bred any litters myself, or even own kennels. I plan someday to get a few more dogs, breed occasionally. Right now, I’m still young, so I have other things in my life to do, besides breed dogs. Right now they are just companions and show dogs.

I originally named it (the kennel) Pyramid Kennels (long story) but after going through old pictures, documents, and magazine adds of my moms, I decided to change to Bear Gait Kennels. Bear Gait was originally founded over 17 years ago, by my mother. Back then she owned Neapolitan Mastiffs, and Bear Gait was taken from the breed standards definition of their “bear like gait.” Eventually she quit breeding Neo’s after Marital problems, a move, and the passing away of her foundation. Later she founded Hot Shot Kennels, American Staffordshire & Pit Bull Terriers, in 1997. She no longer kept the Bear Gait name because AST/APBT's do not carry that characteristic. But it is a catchy name.

So I decided to name my first ’kennel’ after hers, in dedication. And someday, long from now, I will continue the Hot Shot Kennel legacy... Right now my plan is just to show and love the dogs I have. I love handling. I also would like to possibly get into obedience and agility. As for my personal future, I have some plans too. I plan on becoming a Veterinarian. I already understand so much about standard, health, genetics, structure, and how everything relates. But there is always room for improvement and learning.

I know many may not take me very seriously, but I do. I know what I’m looking for in the breed, and there is only room for improvement. I hope to be here for a long time to come.... See you in the ring!
