Come unto Christ
Jesus Christ is the central figure in the plan of our Heavenly Father.
1. Under the direction of the Father, Christ is the Creator of the heavens and the earth and all things in them.
2. He is our Redeemer and Savior.
3. He is our Exemplar.4. He will be our Judge. He will judge us according to our works and the desires of our hearts.

The Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ
The Church of Jesus Christ is organized to help bring salvation to all the children of our Heavenly Father. The mission of the Church in this great work is threefold:

MISSION
OF THE CHURCH

Perfect the Saints.
Proclaim the gospel.
Redeem the dead.

1. Perfect the Saints (Ephesians 4:11-12). Through the Church, those who have come unto Christ through baptism--


Because the Church has no paid ministry, the members are given callings and assignments to serve in the kingdom. They have the opportunity to give of their time and effort to help others. They grow in their love for others and for God. In this way they receive rich blessings and make great progress in becoming more like our Father in Heaven.

2. Proclaim the gospel to those who have not accepted it. The members of the Church are asked to share the gospel with others, especially with their friends and relatives. Through their example and caring friendship, friends can see the joy the gospel brings into the lives of members. They can become ready to accept an invitation to learn more about the Church.

3. Redeem the dead. Many people do not hear the gospel during this mortal life. They will receive the chance to accept it in the spirit world after this life. But the sacred ordinances of salvation must be performed for them by those who are still on the earth. Through genealogical research, members of the Church search for the names of those who have not received baptism and the other ordinances. They then perform these ordinances in behalf of the dead. They do this in holy temples, which are set aside for these special programs.

The Strait and Narrow Path
When a person is baptized, he enters the path that leads to perfection and eternal life with our Father in Heaven. Following this path requires great faithfulness, for the Lord has said that we must endure to the end. But following the path also brings joy, peace, and the assurance that we are living in a way that pleases our Father in Heaven. By coming unto Christ through baptism, keeping the commandments of God, and actively serving in the Church, we can be worthy to enjoy the constant guidance of the Holy Ghost in our lives.

COME UNTO
CHRIST THROUGH BAPTISM

Exercise faith.
Repent of your sins.
Be baptized.
Receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Keep the commandments.
Serve in the Church.

What Can You Do to Prepare for Activity in the Church?

1. Finish reading the Book of Mormon (if possible, before your baptism).

2. Be baptized.

3. Read the pamphlet After Baptism What? and review it with the missionaries.

4. Hear lesson 1 of the home teaching lessons for new members.
