Takeshi Kaneshiro (Gum Sing-Mo)

Takeshi Kaneshiro was born on October 11, 1973 in Taiwan. One of three sons of a Japanese father and a Taiwanese mother, he is one of the hottest acts in China.

Takeshi went to high school at the Taipei American School (He was teased about his surname in the Taiwanese schools). His first taste of show business started in high school when he did television commercials, and soon after left school in his sophomore year.

In 1992, he became an instant success with his debut album "Heartbreaking Night". He is now under contract with EMI and composes and writes many of his own songs.

Not only is this handsome young man multi-talented, he is multi-lingual. He is able to speak fluent Mandarin, Japanese, Cantonese, English and one of the Taiwanese dialects.

Takeshi considers himself to be Japanese primarily due to his father lineage and his Japanese name. Although he did not visit Japan until he was 18.

His first movie wasn't until 1993 when he had a part in "The Executioners". He is probably best known for his role in the film "Chung King Express". He most recently starred in the film "Hero" along side Yuen Biao.
