In early 2007, I retired from work and Gerry and I moved from Canberra to Gulmarrad in April that year. We had lived in Canberra Since 1966, and it was there I started breeding my Birmans and estabilished Sarika Cattery and many years later with two friends 'Majik Cattery'.
Moving to Gulmarrad, which is a sub-division of a little town called Maclean in New South Wales, was a pleasant seachange. Maclean is known as the 'Scottish town in Australia'. We now live on a lovely semi-tripical one acre block, where many lovely native birds and kangaroos live. Our property is 8kms from the mighty Clarence River, and 15kms from the ocean. As I now live in Northern New South Wales, it meant I had to join a different governing body for the cats, and as I did not want to continue with the two cattery prefixes "Sarika" and "Majik", I combined them so, that from now on my cattery is Sarikamajik. I have a lovely new cattery, where the cats have a large indoor and outdoor areas, no cold winters, and lots of cool breezes each day. They can watch the birds in the trees and kangaroos on the grass. They are all happy and healthy with their seachange also.
