You mean-
I really AM
Different?
You mean, when Daddy called me
A Throwback,
And Mommy told me to
Quit my bratting around,
And I didn't understand,
And the teachers didn't know why
I seemed to be
Both
Intelligent and stupid,
And the kids called me
Rita Retard
And I didn't know how to fit in,
And my in-laws thought I was
Crazy
And in need of mental health
Assistance,
And the mental health assistance
Needed assistance
In figuring out me-
Did you say I'm
Not
Crazy?

And, I'm telling you,
That exercise class of mine
Is the best thing I've ever done
For myself.
Ok, now, I thought we would
Practice
A song that we will sing during
Communion,
A few weeks from now.
I don't know this song.
Is this on the list of songs we know?
Breathe. Don't get too tense.
Is my Lamby Pie in my backpack?
No, this song isn't on the list,
But it's really pretty easy to learn.
Why don't we do number 242 instead?
Yeah, we all know that one.
I see her face.
Even I can see the tension.
But, I'm not sure, is she mad or sad?
Why can't they see it?
Just listen for a minute,
I'll play it through once.
I can't sing that high.
I can't get that rhythm.
I'll play it again.
It isn't on our list.
I couldn't find my Lamby Pie,
That's why
I'm in here in the bathroom biting my fingers
And rocking,
Trying hard not to cry,
While the Normal Adults
Are upstairs normalling each other.

Autism.
Own little world.
Some days,
I wish I were fully
Autistic,
As the Humans call it,
Totally lost in my inner world,
Content to stay
Behind
The cosmic wall of Human made
Reality.
Autistics aren't the
Only
Subhumans to find this magical place.
Artists,
Writers,
Dancers,
Scientists,
Mathematicians,
Anyone, removed from Human
Profiteering-
Considered Subhuman these days-
Knows that Space.
Perhaps,
We are closer to God
Than the Humans can stand,
Like Abraham and Moses
Seeking God's Face.
