Jam Recipes

Plum Jam 1

2 Kg Plums ½ Litre of Water
2 Kg Sugar  

                       Time : Approximately 45 minutes    Temperature : Low to Moderate

                Method :    Wash the fruit and cut in halves to remove the stones. The stones should be cracked and the kernels removed ( put the kernels in a muslin bag to be removed from pan after cooking ). Put the fruit and kernels into the water in a pan, and bring to the boil slowly. Simmer gently until the fruit is cooked. Add the sugar and dissolve completely.

Boil hard for 10 or 15 minutes. Test for setting. Pot and cover.

Makes about 10 cups
