OUR CURRICULUM

I think it is safe to say that we are eclectic homeschoolers. Meaning we use what we like. A little from here, and some from there. You get the idea. I will say that Sonlight Curriculum is my all time favorite. We are using it primarily this year.

What we are doing this year with Sonlight Preschool:

* Geography/World Cultures with wonderful "real" books.

* Read-Aloud Classics and Poetry

For math I choose Math U See Introduction. I am very impressed with this curriculum and can't wait to see the results after this year.

Introduction will cover:

• Counting & Writing Numbers 0-9
• Place Value
• Geometric Shapes
• Counting to 100
• Beginning Addition
• Skip Counting by 2s, 5s, & 10s
• Money and Time

Our reading program is another great one! We are using Teach Your Child To Read In 100 Easy Lessons. Simple and easy to use in 20 minute lessons.

SOME OF OUR GOALS FOR PRE K

• Setting up a routine and understanding "school time".

• Writing skills

• learning the pledge

• Learning the concepts of time, calendar and weather

• LOTS AND LOTS of reading time together.

• LOTS AND LOTS OF FUN - art, science, cooking, gardening, play, play, play

• Beginning reading

• Beginning math

• Understanding the use of 911 and Stranger Danger

• Memorizing address and phone number

• Learn to tie shoes
