WHAT WAS NEW

DONE as at August 2005

First  off we said good bye to Wildflower who is off to University and being mature and all (haha whatever!). We had a cool party on the water with some guides that we were taking kayaking with us.  We had cake, party hats AND party poppers - all in our kayaks! It was totally wicked, but we do miss Wildflower (sob).

We did the Cambridge-Hamilton kayak for the second year running - but this year, we did the whole thing (although, we did come last....). It was Pineapple Lump's longest kayak to date, and she managed ultra well.

Next up it was Ranger Team Challenge night - and we won! (Mostly because we had guides who were damn good at bowling).  Sugar got elected youth chairman - 'cause she's the man! (But not literally).

We all completed our Lightweight badge... Hopefully we won't have to put it into practice any time soon - Trouble Jr. couldn't cope without her V!

We went to the film festival to see an old as movie (
Rebel Without a Cause) which starred the beautiful James Dean. Although the movie was stupid - there was this stupid slut in it who was insulted when people said she was a slut, but her bf died and she got with James Dean a couple of hours later! That is SLUTTY. Also Sugar's sister E joined us for her first night! Another movie we saw was Autumn Spring, a Czech movie. It was very sweet, about an old man who played pranks on people.

PLANNING

At the moment we're thinking about an expedition to Waiheke. It should be pretty cool, and Sugar has first dibs on it as HER expedition. The only thing is we're all so lazy that a looong expedition won't be any fun until we actually are ON it.

Don't believe that just because we haven't updated for six months we aren't still here! We've just been busy doing all the fun stuff!
We got up at 5am today (Thinking Day) to run a
dawn service up Mt Eden for our region. We'd made masks to wear and written a service about being alike and different and just how lucky we are. We slept last night on Agoo's living room floor, and were all at school by 7:30am!

Last year we flew S. up from Guides, did lots of kayaking, went on a trip to the snow (
Ruapehu) including snowboarding lessons, went to laserstrike, camped with Waikomiti Guides at Omana, camped down the valley from the Ariki Guides at Karamatura camp site and chased them down the stream with waterguns. So far this year we've slept overnight at Boat Centre and cleaned it thoroughly, printed a new batch of unit t-shirts and done more kayaking!

DOING as of February 2005

Wildflower is planning a kayak expedition at Easter for her Expedition permit. We are doing lightweight interest certificate and New Lynn Guides are coming kayaking with us one night.
Time to hit Marketing Interest Certificate, as it is
biscuit selling time again (if you're in Auckland and want to but some of our yummy Guide biscuits e-mail us manaia_tai_rangers@yahoo.co.nz ).

WHAT'S NEW as of February 2005

Photos and a report about Thinking Day are up.

                          DONE as of June 2004

As always it's not that we haven't been doing things, just that we haven't been updating here. We did virtually everything we were challenged to in the Ranger Team Challenge , including biscuit selling, Thinking Day overnight and 10 Pin Bowling . We helped out at a water table on a fun run and  went along as support kayaks on the Rangitoto to St Heliers Swim, and went on the Cambridge to Hamilton kayak. We went and saw Sugar in the Stage Challenge helped out at the Guide disco and we ended the term with a major long term planning night (2007 here we come). We flew L up from Guides to join us.

Sadly Tweety has moved out of Auckland, so we are missing her heaps. If she's back in Auckland we do hope we'll see her again, meanwhile we are still in touch by txt.

                         DOING as of June 2004

This year's visit to the Auckland International Film Festival will be to see this film (past years have been 1 2 3 4 ), and there were so many films to choose from that some are planning extra visits. The district AGM is a pajama party - maybe an excuse for Trouble Jr to wear her boxers without everyone grumbling?. We are aiming to do the Making the Most of Yourselves Interest Certificate over the term, and go tree planting on Motutapu Island again (here's last time ).

WHAT'S NEW as of June 2004

Added D and L's badge tabs, moved Tweety's cool icon to the archive page for now. Updated the glossary and the badges page. Finally added an About Manaia Tai Rangers page, telling how we started and about our unit traditions. And have started to put together a photo page to collect all our pictures togther. Only 2004, 2003 and 2002 uploaded so far.

DONE as of February 2004

OK, so its a very long time since we've updated. We are still here, and busy and having fun, we just haven't been online much. And if you've been trying to
e-mail us - sorry we didn't log in for 4 months and yahoo ate our e-mail. The address is functioning again...for the moment.

Anyway, what did happen last year? D joined us. We camped at Rutherford and
Parakai, did the Catering and Games Interest Certificates, took part in the Ranger Team Challenge, invested Wildflower, presented RoseRed with her Queens Guide Award, took a trip to the snow, had two! Death by Chocolate nights, visited RoseRed's Guides, visited the Guide Jamboree in Rotorua and did lots of kayaking.

Oh, and there is a nice photo of us kayaking
here.

DOING as of February 2004

We went kayaking for out first week at Rangers this term and are now planning - maybe this time we'll even plan to update the ranger web pages!
Biscuit week is looming, so if you want to buy some please contact us.

PLANNING as of February 2004

We are about to go all out for the
Ranger Team Challenge so there should be some fun activties involved in that.

WHAT'S NEW as of February 2004

Quite some time ago we added an icon and badgetab for
Sugar! Tweety created her page. And photos were added to the Blackwater Rafting Report.

DONE as of 5th February 2003

At the end of last year we went
Black Water Rafting, camped and kayaked with Glen Eden Guides at Wenderholm, spent a weekend camping at Parakai Hotpools, took the kayaks to Okahu Bay one night and kayaked around under the road and railway bridges and finally we flew our newest ranger, Trouble Jr up from Guides in a sailing dinghy on wheels.

DOING as of 5th February 2003

We have been kayaking a few times and are now making song books and having fun singing them along the way. We gained a new member and everyones having fun. RoseRed has finished at Rangers and has started helping at New Lynn Guides. Agoo is studying this year and will only be able to help us out occasionally but another leader, Ballast, will be helping out with Busby.

PLANNING as of 5th February 2003

Well we have started but haven't planned much for the year so far we are hopping to go and camp at Parakai sometime soon.

NEW as of Wednesday 5 February 2003

Added an icon and
badgetab for our newest member, Trouble Jr! And Wildflower's personal page is up and the bouncying pictures have gone, thank goodness. I don't think she knew what she was doing. The Blackwater Rafting Report has finally been done. Much more will be up dated soon.

Friday 28 November 2002

Nothing much, just updated our doings on this page, and finally rembered to link the webring icon to its page.

DONE as of 28th November

RoseRed has completed her Queen's Guide Award!

     *!*CONGRAGULATIONS*!*

The weather has stopped a lot of our kayaking plans, but last night we kayaked out to
Watchman's Island in the rain to invest Wildflower. It was a calm night and really nice despite the rain.

DOING as of 28th November

We actually are finally going
Black Water Rafting this weekend! And next weekend will be camp at Wenderholm - the Guides have a mystery theme, we figure we can cause some havoc with that.

PLANNING as of 28th November

No big plans - we're looking for ideas for our last meeting of the year and also considering a weekend camping at the hot pools at
Parakai. Then holidays!

                        Friday 18 October 2002

Added a
badge tab for out newest Ranger, Tweety, and her icon on this [edit: the main] page was easy to choose! The main blurb for this page has also been updated. And we've joined some webrings, some are Guiding related, some are New Zealand based.

DONE as of 18th Oct

We planned and ran an enrollment for Glen Eden Guides, we saw an
Australian film at the Film Festival and we've welcomed a new Ranger, Tweety! During the holidays RoseRed led a wonderfully muddy tramp in the Waitakere's for her Expedition Permit.

DOING as of 18th Oct

Right now our biggest focus is on RoseRed finishing her
Queen's Guide Award:13 days and counting. To that end NZ Maritime Heritage, Promise and Law, and Stress and Anger Management Interest Certificates are almost finished. We are also recruiting for more Rangers and starting summer kayaking again.

PLANNING as of 18th Oct

We are still hoping to go
Black Water Rafting at Waitomo, probably in December, and we will also be lightweight camping alongside Glen Eden Guides at Wenderholm.

Friday 19 July 2002

Added an
iceskating report - from last year, Wildflower's flyup report - from the beginning of this year and best of all a report of our overnight kayak expedition.

We've changed the formatting of the pages a bit in hopes of making them more readable, and updated the information on the main page.

Busby's page is finally up!

Agoo has updated
badgetabs and past members.

DONE as of Fri 19th July

The most exciting thing we've done recently was our
overnight kayak from our summer meeting place to our winter meeting place. We've also tried scrimshaw and played the Generation Game with St Lukes Guides.

DOING as of Fri 19th July

We are currently working on a one Ranger skit for the District AGM and planning an enrollment and Ranger Awareness evening with Glen Eden Guides. Next week we are going to the Auckland International Film Festival to see
this.

PLANNING as of Fri 19th July

We are hoping to go
Black Water Rafting at Waitomo sometime soon.

Friday 5 April 2002

We have
photos up from this year's Canoe Camp (none of our Rangers were there, but Busby and Agoo were) and our overnight for Senior Guides at Parakai last year.

  Thursday 14 February 2002

Wave is up and some badgetabs have been updated. Agoo

Tuesday 22 January 2002

Recently I've added a
Rock Climbing Investiture Report, a Waiheke Trip Report, a Girlie Movie Night and Investiture Report and a Roof Painting Report, and added the photos to the Goat Island Report. The Clan countdown has been removed (because it's all over and we're back) and some broken links fixed. And a years worth of What's New has been archived. Agoo.
