The Manaia Tai Wave
Camp Special Edition - Dec 2000
             THE REST OF THIS TERM

Wed 22 Nov
NO RANGERS
(It's the night of the Regional Guide Dinner, Busby and AG are going to eat, drink and be very merry.)

Wed 29th Nov
Could those with no School C finally get out on the water this night?

Wed 6 Dec
Celebration night or even all day
School C is over! I propose we have an everyone at Rangers night;
-cook something yummy (still trying to finish   International Cuisine),
-K2 gives us a fascinating speech about the structure of Guiding (for that last clause of Introductory Leadership)
-and whatever else you want to do.
We’ll expect you to come along with a list of when you will and won’t be available for activities over the holidays, so we know whether to plan things.
If everyone can come we could make it an all day event, let us know what you want to do.
If it is all day we could spend part of the day finally finishing the Boat Centre roof and painting footprints on it.

Wed. 13th Dec

AG's Guides are having a Tarzan camp for those days, you are invited to camp alongside Ranger style.  You are invited to take part in some of the camp activities, and will be portrayed as a village of jungle tribespeople who play loud drums in the distance and occasionally hunt Tarzan’s band of apes (bows and arrows will be supplied <hehehe>).

WITH THE GUIDES:
The Burma trail –
K2 has volunteered to organise a really fancy one as part of her Adventure Outdoors Interest Certificate. She will need all of you to help set it up and take the Guides through.
Jungle drums –
One activity the Guides need to do is make percussion instruments to use at campfire.  It would be good if the rangers could take over organising this and running the activity, the materials will all be supplied. If you want to you could make much bigger drums for yourselves to play with. And you are invited to campfire.
Supper –
you are invited to come and have supper with us each evening, bring a packet of biscuits and your mugs and we will supply the Milo.
Guide Ranger Link overnight –
Two of the older Guides need to sleep in a lightweight tent and cook a lightweight meal for their Link badge. We thought we wouldn’t tell them what was happening but just supply them with a backpack each, food, cooker and a tent, tell them to pack up their bedding and be ready to go, and then you could lead them on a merry chase before taking them to put their tent up with yours, let them interview you for another clause and send them back before breakfast the next morning.

JUST THE RANGERS:
Two-way radios and fitness for expeditions -
part of Backpackers Interest Certificate - which K2 is finishing.
Lightweight Camp Interest Certificate -
we'll go through any remaining clauses before camp and I will try to arrange for Fiona to come out and assess you all for this. It will be up to you to earn it!
Water activities of your choice -
the Rutherford property extends down to a shallow sandy beach.
Anything else you want to do, just say the word!
