A house divide against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure permanently, half-slave and half-free.
I do not expect the house to fall---but I do expect it will cease to be divided.
Welcome to my Civil War Pages. On these pages I will attempt to outline the Civil War so one has a better understanding of the war.
I will also provide links to other sites on the same subject.

My name is Jay Roland and I first got interested in the Civil War in 2001. I originally didn't find the Civil War very interesting. I was more interested in World War II. I became interested in the Civil War through my son who was 10. He was a WEBLOS Scout and we needed to do some camping. He mentioned he wanted to see a Civil War battlefield. We camped near Sharpsburg where the Battle of Antietam or Sharpsburg took place. We toured the battlefield and as I looked over the battlefield it got me thinking about what the Civil War was about. I stood at the cornfield and it was quiet and I could almost hear the soldiers doing battle. I know that it was my imagination taking over but it brought me to start to read about the Civil War. And to help me understand it more I decided to do a web site about the Civil War. I hope you like what I have done. I have been doing a lot of reading in doing research for these pages. I would like to express that any reflexion I Have put in these pages is mine alone. I agree with the Union but in doing the reading I have come to respect the Southern view on things a bit more. I never will agree to the slavery issue but the other reasons the South fought I understand and somewhat agree with those issues. I would like to thank you for visiting my site
