|House of Hamster is a small (by choice) breeding & rescue program for dwarf campbells russian and winter white hamsters, located in Dunbar, WV...about 5 minutes from the capital city of Charleston.|
|As a dedicated and caring breeder, when you adopt your hamster from House of Hamster, i will be here for support all through-out your pets life. Included in your adoption packet will be my contact information so that you can get in touch with me should you have any questions or concerns. If there is one thing that i learned from growing up in a household of reputable dog breeders, it is that caring breeders and loving owners make for beautiful friendships.|
|Growing up with an Animal Obsession...
I've had a passion for animals since as long as i can remember. There has never been a point in my life where i wasnt walking my dog, changing a litter box, or trail riding the horses.
Now that i'm in college, and in an apartment (that DOES allow pets....which they very well should for my rent being almost $800/month!), i have had to limit myself to just my dog and the hamsters.
My sister, who is ten years older than i am, always raised hamsters when we were younger, and i love watching them interact together as familes. My family is a huge "animal" family. My parents very succesfully bred and showed German Shephards while i was growing up, my sister raised Rottweilers, and now it has moved on to an unspeakable amount of love for Pomeranians...which we've had since i was in second grade. At the age of 9, i was very active with showing Saddlebred horses, and competed for many years. In the future, i plan on opening my own stable commited to quality show horses...and i also dream of using half of the facility as a sanctuary for abused and neglected horses.
SO...theres the animal back ground....now let's get on to what i practice with my hamster breeding & rescue program....
We believe that animals are a part of the family. They are not to be used as entertainment, gifts, or trophies. When we make a decision to bring a new animail home, that animals fate become our responsibility. Every animal has the right to love and be loved, the right to a warm place to sleep, food to eat, plenty of fresh water to drink. We have no right to stop caring for our pets because the care they require is more than we bargained for. The beautiful thing about animals is that they KNOW how to love unconditionally...something that we, as humans, need to practice more often. Our hamsters recieve lots of individual attention and all get equal love....we ONLY place our hamsters in homes that we feel can provide for them as well as we do. We have the right to refuse our services to anyone as we deem necessary. If you are one of the lucky ones to take one of our babies home, and you find at anytime during your pets life that you can no longer care for it, please let us know and we will make arragnments to bring the hamster back to us and place it in a new home.
