You never knew I felt it, how could you know I delt it?
--Written: Sometime 1999--
I wish you knew it pleased me, even though you often teased me.
We never knew the future, but I guess it didn’t matter,
They’ll never know the reasons, even though they really ought to.
You never let me love you, I think you would’ve left me.
At least you let me hold you, I think we both did need it.
We never were a couple, but we made quite an item.
They let us get away with it, even though they didn’t know it.
You never said good-bye, even though I know you meant to.
I never let you lie, thank the lord above you wouldn’t.
We never thought to argue, I guess we always knew.
They never saw in you what I did, I guess that’s why I love you.
