Pottery & Stoneware for Sale

pitcher1.jpg (68236 bytes)

1. Staffordshire Pitcher circa 1820 - 1840. $1250.00.

This is an exquisite hand-painted piece of early 19th C. English pottery. There are no marks on the base. We had it appraised at Toronto's Harbor Front at between $2000 - 3000 CDN. There is very little wear to the gilded edges. The ribbon reads "A learned Man I now appear But turn me round an Ass is there". Indeed, if you turn it upside down the picture of a man with hat and beard turns into a donkey. Most interesting are the two frogs and two lizards crawling up the inside.
