Our first year as Cadettes has
been filled with fun and excitement. We started the year off by going
to see Juliette on Tour. We did the opening and closing flag ceremony.
Juliette (Lois Seimer) presented us with our Community Service bars.
We also made and served the refreshments after the show. We took
our new mascot Lizzie with us. She was a gift from some friends in
Australia. She was the mascot for the paraolympics in Australia last
year.
The badges we have earned this
year are Cookies and Dough, Leadership, Fashion Design, Games for life,
Cadette Girl Scout Challenge, Community Service Bar, Girl Scout Service
Bar and Dreams to Reality. We have learned that it takes a lot more
work and time to earn badges now then it did for Brownies and Juniors.
We are now getting ready to take our First Aid / CPR course and The Babysitting
101 course. We plan to do a community babysitting in November so
that the parents can go shopping without the children along.
Our trip this year was to Beach
Jam 2001. We left on Friday and returned late Sunday night.
We missed school on Friday but our leader made us get all our work and
get it done before we left. When we arrived we set up our tents and
stored our gear. Next we went and got our id braclets for the amusements.
Then we had dinner. After dinner we went on the rides until 11 pm.
What fun!!! Then it was off to bed for a good nights sleep. Around
7AM Bear woke us up and took us for a walk along the beach. We all
had to wade in the ocean. We then had breakfast, took our showers
and went back to the boardwalk to ride the rides again. We took a
break for lunch and then back to the rides. After dinner there was
a dance with a DJ. Some of us went back to the boardwalk again.
Then it was time for bed. Next morning we had breakfast, took down
the tents and took everything to the cars. Then we went to the acquarium
on the peir. It was very interesting. Finally our trip was
over and we headed home. We are looking forward to going again.
We had several parents go on the trip with us. They enjoyed riding
the rides as much as we did. Please check out our photo page to see
