| Below is a copy of an email I received last week. Classification: U N C L A S S I F I E D Caveats: NONE I loved your internet article. I hope you don't mind but I have quoted you from your article in my Christian Living In The Home Series. I'm a Army Reserve chaplain who has been mobilized and is serving in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The lesson I quoted you in was one on being honest about the part we play in our own problems. On a whim I typed in a search "Being Honest About Our Problems" and your article came up. It was just what I needed for my service! Praise God! The service is called Soul Survivor and takes place very Wednesday night. It's a great program to give the service men and women something wholesome and godly to do rather than what's available. Keep up your internet witness for Jesus Christ. Also, I have a Christian literature table from which I distribute cases of bibles, discipleship materials, pamphlets, tracts, etc. I also give out chaplain's candy. So far I've collected 161 lbs and distributed about 130 lbs in less than three months. If you might know of anyone who would like to donate Christian material or candy / gum for the service men and women they can be sent to: Chaplain Kent Svendsen JTF-GTMO (Chaplain Section) APO AE 09360 Classification: U N C L A S S I F I E D Caveats: NONE Sometimes incredible things happen when we least expect it. Last week was a good example for me. I spent the week worrying over one near catastrophe or another and having my mind everywhere but where it should have been. In some ways my life seemed stagnate. I hadn't done any meaningful writing or anything else productive. I wasn't backsliding or sliding forward, I was simply stagnate. Isn't it amazing what God can be doing for (and with) us when we least expect it? On a day when I was following the same old routine, God was using something of mine in a different part of the world! This little event ministered to me in a very special way. Often I get so tired of the status quo, and cry to God that "nothing ever happens". As a matter of fact, I might have been crying that when the sermon was being delivered. It just shows me once again that God really does have His way in the storm. When I can't see two minutes ahead, He can still see twenty years down the road. Our God is an awesome God!!! |
