| The Ship and the Storm by Cadi Nobles |
| A mighty captain at the wheel did stand Praying for some sight of land. For a terrible storm in the air did prow And angry waters lashed against the bow. His men were worn from days of toil, And all hoped and prayed to spot some soil. But alas this ship stood alone in the world And in fear they watched as the storm unfurled. And though it was day, they lost all their sight. For the storm cast a shadow as black as the night. The heartless winds thrust their ship to and fro Of the direction they were headed not one man did know. Though each feared the worst, they all did their best, For tis the code of the sea and each was duty pressed. But the winds do not stop for the duties of men, So into the rock the ship it did send. The merciless waters crashed through the side, So the worst had come, they had no where to hide. The ship that weathered many storms in the past Had met it's match and was going down fast. Nothing could be done, they knew they must flee The men had no choice, but to jump in the sea. Unknown to each one, land was quite near. The signs went unnoticed, because of their fear. Though most did perish, a few did escape. Tis how I am able to write of their fate. So that is the story of the ship and the storm Be careful it cries, in silence it warns. This is the lesson that I give in this rhyme, No man knows his end on the seas of time. |
