How often do we as Christians really set back and analyze our walk with Christ?  For the most part we have an apathetic view of Christianity; forcing ourselves to believe that compromise and tolerance are the new commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ.  We hold our own values in a state somewhat higher than the national average and believe that the country is doing fine on its own.  However, the sad fact is that this is an evil time, and the world is not evil because of evil men's actions, but because good men do nothing to prevent them.  If tomorrow you were faced with a "claim Jesus and die" situation, I am sure that a majority of us reading this would stand for our God, but why must it come to such a place?  Why should we have to be faced with a life and death situation to tell others that we are bought with a price?  It is time that we started showing ourselves to be the living epistles of Jesus Christ, "known and read of all men." (II Cor. 3:2)

America was once a bastian of freedom, a shining light to the whole world of what they could be.  Yet now, what are we?  Hated by most and cursed by more, we have seemingly left adrift those that looked to us for comfort and guidance in their journey to liberty.  Why and how have we fallen so quickly from our shiny place high upon the hill?  If we truly seek an answer to this question, there is only one that can be found.  Nestled deep in the pages of the Holy Word of the only God we read that were the spirit of Christ is, there is liberty.

As a nation we have tried to legislate the Spirit of Christ from our midst.  We have denied its existence for so long that we have nearly given ourselves to the will of the destroyer.  By removing from our sight the laws of God, punishing those that seek true peace for others, and nearly banning public displays of worship, America has started down a hill that only has one end: Destruction.  For verily it is written that "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God." (Ps. 9:17) With each passing moment and with the growing number of those that are bias against the Lord Jesus, America is losing their hold on true liberty.

So how can this be stopped?  How can we turn the swelling tide that has overflown our banks of morality?  Though it might seem hopeless, there is a way.  We must confess with our mouths that we have sinned and believe in our hearts that Jesus Christ is our only hope of salvation.  We must acknowledge that we are nothing in his sight and that "all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags." (Isa. 64:6)  We must, in short, humble ourselves and pray, seek the face of God, turn from our wickedness, and put away the evil of our doings from before his eyes; then will God hear from heaven, then will he forgive our sins, then will he heal our lands. [II Chron. 7:14]  It is time for judgement to begin at the house of God [I Pet 4:17].  It is time – past time I say – that we "search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD." (Jer. 3:40)
