| IF I HAD THE CHOICE |
| If I had the choice, I would chose to exist In a place and a time somewhat better than this. Young couples in love, wouldn't fear love's sweet potion, Together exploring each brand new emotion. There would be no fear and hunger would leave, The abused of the world would at last gain reprieve. "All things common" would be the law of the land, Neighbors and strangers would at last lend a hand. And in this world of my making there would be a respite In the nature of man to seek out a fight. But Utopia exists only in the mind. Like Stalin and Lenin I'd eventually find. No man-made state can make dreams come true, And there will never be peace, no matter what I do. Tonight millions are hungry, millions more live in fear, And my precious Nirvana is no more near. So seek out salvation and fight for your cause, Enjoy all your living in spite of life's flaws. Everyday is a gift and each morning a hope, Until Heaven appears, we may learn how to cope. |
