“But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.” II Thes. 3:13
So many Christians (myself included) have fallen prey to this in some fashion. From everything such as reading the bible to fasting, we increasingly become weary in the things of God. This modern generation of Christians more so then ever. We have become so fixed on instant gratification that we think that God must not be hearing us if He doesn’t answer within the time we have allotted.
Due to this sad state in the body of Christ, our spiritual walk with our great God has suffered immensely. There are few great men and women of God rising to captivate souls and bring multitudes into the shining city built up by God. There are few workers to take the place of those dear saints that sleep now, or soon will sleep in Jesus. Why? Because we no longer suffer for his word, we no longer allow our eyes to be reddened by the wine of the spirit. We would rather lose sleep over a T.V. show or a book, then by praying and reading the word of God. We long to know the treasures of God, yet we have not the desire to search it out and find the hidden things, yea the deep things of God. We are satisfied with the drippings from glory past and food that was meat for those of yesteryear. We try to live off the past glory of Abraham, Moses, and Paul; yet God is looking for a people that desires, yea hungers and thirsts after the glory of the builder of this city rather then that of the city itself. A people that will not be satisfied with the tales of miracles in a past generation, but knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that if God did it then, than greater shall it be done in this the last hour. He seeks for a body of believers that with every fiber of their being (not just for a time and season when the going is good, but in the midst of the furnace of affliction) declares, “Not my will, but thine be done, O God.” It is those people, that peculiar priesthood, that shall reveal in this last day the righteousness of Jesus Christ and the glory that we had with God before the world began.
It is time we stand, those that love God with all their heart, soul, mind, body, and strength, and proclaim that Jesus Christ is the only true and wise God, and that all nations shall bow before him and proclaim that He is Lord and God of all. Then, and only then, when He shall “change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body” (Phil. 3:21), can we shout and sing that, “As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.” (Ps. 17:15) |
