Purpose

The Naugatuck Police Explorer Post #882 was established to offer young men and women an insight into the field of law enforcement. At the same time, the Post members provide helpful services to the police department and the community.

Involvement

Explorers participate in Post meetings, fundraisers, and fun activities. In the past, Post #882 has been involved in many activities and events in Naugatuck, as well as some in Prospect and Beacon Falls, and is always willing to assist cities and organizations in a manner that benefits both the Post and the host organizer. The Post has taken part in many parades, ceremonies, and festivals, including organizing and leading divisions in the Naugatuck Memorial Day Parade and providing the color guard for the annual Connecticut Rotary Club’s Officer of the Year Banquet. On a monthly basis, members are involved in the Post’s ride-along program, in which an Explorer goes on patrol for a four-hour shift with a Naugatuck police officer on his/her normal duties. This is a rare opportunity for an individual to get a first-hand perspective of the reality of modern law enforcement, to see the side of a police officer’s profession that few people will ever be so privileged to view.

All members are welcome to attend the annual Explorer Police Academy, held at Mitchell College in New London. This one-week program is often the highlight of a Post member’s year, and offers four progressive phases of law enforcement education (one phase per year). Each year, posts from all across the northeast attend the Academy. There they meet Explorers from other cities and states with whom they will join in perhaps the single most informative and perceptive activity of their Exploring career.

Announcements - A few things real quick. I am currently updating the site. It is undergoing a major, well needed underhaul. Please be paicent during this period of time. I have limited time between school and work so it may take a little while. I expect it to be complete by the end of the month. A brand new site will be appearing after christmas.
Next I would like everyone to congratulate the new Chief Marc Robinson. Chris Wilson has resigned as the current Chief but currently plans on maintaining a membership in the post. Marc congrats and best of luck.
The roster will be offline for the next few days while I update Explorers that have left, promotions and such. It will be offline till the new Deputy Chief is assigned. It should only be for a week at the most but it all depends on how soon we pick one. If one is not picked after a week I will just leave the space blank.
