The holiday season can be a dark time for many. Our world is full of darkness, despair and evil. We have seen it in the terrorism, wars, shootings in our schools and public places where we thought we were safe. Can we ever be safe from evil? It seems to lurk around every corner even affecting our children's lives.
Darkness lurks everywhere. There is HOPE, there is LIGHT in the darkness of our lives, of our world. The Light of Christmas is where it all began. Christmas lights cheer the dark corners of our lives.
Have you ever gone into a dark room and lit a candle? What happens? The darkness is gone; it is illuminated by the light.
This fall we went hiking and I crawled into a cave with a flashlight. I went around several corners until I could not see the entrance anymore. When I shut off the light it was DARK. I decided with my rather weak light I didn't want to risk staying in there or going further. I was afraid of being lost in the darkness.
Are you lost in the darkness? Do you have dark rooms in your heart and mind that frighten you? Are there dark places in this world, your circumstances that frighten you; where you would like to have a LIGHT to shine?
There is a Greater LIGHT Who takes away the darkness. Isaiah 9:6. Jesus comes into the darkness, the nights of our suffering, sorrow, and sin.
Jesus said, "I am the LIGHT of the world.”
The above were the last words I wrote when a darkness invaded my heart as I received a phone call that my only brother/sibling, David had suddenly gone home to be with the Lord. So I dedicate this page to his memory as I complete this article.
Yes, I was plunged into a great darkness like you may also have experienced in the stark reality of losing someone. Of course they are not lost, only their location has been altered. My brother is viewing many bright lights with the “Father of lights” where there is no shadow of turning. James 1:17
We go to see the Christmas lights and ooh and ahh the beautiful scenes. There is a greater scene and we shall all someday who are in Jesus, be mystified and awed by that sight. Isaiah 60:19-20 "No longer will you have the sun for light by day, Nor for brightness will the moon give you light; you will have the Lord for an everlasting light, your God for your glory. "Your sun will set no more. Neither will your moon wane; For you will have the Lord for an everlasting light. And the days of your mourning will be finished.”
It all took place that first Christmas night in Bethlehem, what God the Father had ordained from Creation. John 1: 4,5 In Him (Jesus) was life, and this life gives light to everyone. The light shines thru the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”
No matter what darkness you are going thru, let His light shine in. Jesus will put holes in your darkness to see your way. John 8:12 Again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life."
ps 27: 1 “The Lord is my light and my salvation--so why should I be afraid?”
So let’s fill our hearts, minds and souls with the Greatest Christmas light, the light of Jesus. Every time we see the sparkle of Christmas lights or the flicker of a candle, let its glow warm your heart with Jesus the “true” light of the world.
Christmas is to celebrate God’s love for us in Jesus birth, life and resurrection. In God’s wondrous love and wisdom it goes far beyond the bright lights of the heavens declaring the birth of Jesus to an eternal significance. Rev 21:23; 22:5.
Has Jesus been born in your heart? Take Him now as Your Savior, Redeemer.
Let Him be the true light that leads you, guides your steps through this worldly realm into the heavenly realm where He is the eternal light. Jesus will make you a “light” in this world putting holes in the darkness.
No more then can any darkness extinguish His light within you. Shine brightly!
MY FIRST CHRISTMAS IN HEAVEN
My first Christmas in heaven, I want you all to know
the atmosphere is filled with Heavenly Lights all aglow.
I am rejoicing and singing with the angels, His story
as the heavenly streets of Gold reflect My Saviors glory!
So don't let your hearts be burdened down with sorrow.
Just prepare yourselves for that great tomorrow;
When You too make that Promised journey with cheer
to meet Our Savior and come dwell with me here.
In our heavenly home there's no sickness sorrow or sin
Take Jesus as Your Savior too, Come Enter in!
Loved ones, I'll see you soon, wipe away that tear,
I'm spending my first Christmas with JESUS this year!
