The Animal Artwork Group was created on September 20th of 2000 by original founder, artist Heather Bilton. It was her goal, that the group be a place where animal artists could come together to share their works, ideas and tips.

On January 30th, 2001, artist Carol Moore, became co-founder and changed the group to a place where artists, nature lovers and animal lovers can come together to share what they most love. Topics range from art to dog breeds. The group's success is due to its wonderful members and moderators, Julie Spiegel, Niki Nicklin, Jennifer Herlihy and Paul Hadfield . The group has become a circle of animal artists from around the world, that join together to share art lessons, art challenges, art tips and techniques and their love for animals and nature.
