The Elvis Touch - Glasgow
Elvis Aberdeen
Return to Lonmay - The Revenge Challenge
Friday 25th & Saturday 26th August 2006
Our journey began at 2pm on Friday 25th August 2006.  We met at George Square, Glasgow and boarded our mini-bus for the first leg of our journey to Aberdeen.  On arrival to our hotel, it was a quick turnaround and out on the town, firstly for dinner then onto the Elvis Aberdeen Fan Club Dance.

We were greeted by Ally and the rest of the Committee and Members of the Aberdeen Club.  Then it was Elvis all night.  We were treated to a special delicacy from the North East, a plate of "Stovies" which we thoroughly enjoyed.

After an enjoyable evening we stopped at another eatery as some of the men wanted to finish off the night in style with a stop for curries and pizzas.  Our journey commenced again and what should have been a 10 minute run turned into an hour tour of Aberdeen, as we got lost and ended up at Aberdeen Beach and Harbour - but we eventually got to our hotel at 2.30am!

We met at the hotel foyer at 9.30am and headed into town for breakfast.  Following that we headed to Philip King Kiltmakers for kilt fittings and trews in Presley of Lonmay tartan.

It was now time to head to Lonmay.  With our directions from Ally in hand, we drove straight to it and checked into the Ban Car Hotel, Lonmay.  As the Picnic in the Park was to commence at 2.15pm we headed to Aden Country Park, Minlaw for the picnic and games and were surprised we were the first to arrive this year.

We arranged the bench sets and set up our picnic and were quickly joined by the Aberdeen bus load and then the lassies from Falkirk.  The music was quickly turned on and as we ate our picnic, teams were being picked for each event by the team captains Ally Rose from Aberdeen and Paul Downie from Glasgow.

All during the picnic and the games the sun shone on us and as we packed up, the clouds turned to grey.  We boarded our bus and left the park exhilerrated and for many in great pain.  The injuries sustained by the Glasgow Team read like casualties of war.  Sharon Stevenson - badly bruised leg, Paul Downie - back and shoulders, Joe McCombe - winded at football, Jim Whisker - bruised ribs, Anne Whisker - sore thighs....... and many more.  Injuries to the Aberdeen team included sore legs, arms and bruised wrists from the tug of war - all in the name of Elvis - I'm sure he would have been proud.
