| The book, The Earth Child's Handbook is due out Fall 2003 from Spilled Candy Books <http://www.spilledcandy.com>! About the book: The Earth Child's Handbook ~ crafts & inspiration for the spiritual child is due out this Fall 2003. It features in book activities such as coloring pages, mazes, word searches, and connect the dots. It has cut out crafts such as pinwheels, mobiles, boxes, a complete paper altar, headdresses, masks, mini Book of Shadows, moon phase wheel, runes, photo album, Pagan paper dolls and much more. The text of the book includes crafts, craft ideas and family activities, recipes and more all broken into chapters with information on the Sabbats, the Earth, the Heavens (Sun, Moon, Stars, Astrology), Family, Magick and Ritual. The book strives to include ideas, crafts and activities appropriate to a number of Pagan religions. (Rather then say, just Wicca). This book really started about two years ago with the creation of the Pagan Paper Dolls. I owe my coven sisters tremendous thanks. It was really their encouragement (and Nagging!) that enabled me to expand this book into the truly wonderful primer it has become. About the paper dolls: The Pagan Paper Dolls started out as simple black and white designs with simple clothing that I made available for free on the internet. (You can still find some of the black and white dolls on some Pagan sites. Also on my own site <forkids/kidscrafts/paperdolls/index.htm>.) These dolls were so popular that I decided to spend more time on them, round them out, and colorize them. While making the dolls I was inspired to create a complete paper altar set! Kids could make a cauldron, chalice, "candles", wand, the list goes on, all out of paper! It is just like those books you may have had as a kid, where you cut out the pieces and assembled boxes, cars, and even castles from paper. This was so much fun I thought "Why stop there?" and I made little books to assemble, then little cases to hold the books, pinwheels, treasure boxes, runes with a carrying case and more. My coven sisters said, "You have to get this published!" |
