The Dratoul - Stone Haven Alliance Circa January 10th 97 P.A.
With little time remaining for the Stone Haven goverment to give it's decision about membership to the C.S., a young Dratoul priest arrived in Tolkeen. He had been drawn there by a vision he had while meditating in the small Temple of Bravthin close to Center. His vision showed him standing before a lake which had a ley line nexus hovering in mid-air at the center of the lake after a long journey. Beside him was Bravthin himself who was telling him to re-open the gate and to enter. When he asked what was on the other side, Bravthin only answered "my life force".
The young priest awoke form the vision and left the temple immediately and made his way to Tolkeen on Rifts Earth just as he had envisioned and followed the path the vision had set out for him until he came to Stone Haven. The priest managed to discover the Gryphon Lake nexus but was not surprised to find it had been sealed to keep out the raiders from the other side. After finally convincing Col. Rommel to give him escort, he made his way to the nexus and used his psionic power to float towards it. Once standing before it, he re-opened the Rift and immediately felt the rush of life force radiating from beyond and entered after tellinghis escort to wait for him. Rommel himself witnessed the reopening and the journey through of the priest. The rift closed instantly behind him only to reopen an hour later and the priest came through the gateway.
He spoke of a land where a certain crystal was found in great abundance and that it was the greatest discovery in Draotul history. The young priest immediately returned to Tolkeen and the to Center and told the Temple High Priest of the vision he had and of his discovery. Stone Haven was contacted a few days later and a delegation of Dratoul returned to the lake to bear witness of the discovery. When they had finished, the delegation asked what it would take to have free access to the nexus and it was there Col. Rommel explained the plight of Stone Haven and the consequences of loosing the nexus to the Coalition. Determined not to loose such a golden discovery, the Conclave agreed to help Stone Haven in thier fight against the CS in exchange for access to the nexus and the building of an embassy inside the city.
With both parties in agreement, the building of the temple began as well as the building of a refinery on the otherside of the nexus. Nearly 1,000 troops and 300 Lasks of various degrees were brought in immediatly upon installment of the temple gateway and were sent through the nexus. There were many skirmishes with the monster raiders on the otherside and more troops had to be sent through as well as a new refinery built after the first was destroyed in a daring raid which killed 70% of the Girants stationed there.
It has been over a year since the second refinery was built and large ore convoys emerge from the nexus once every 3 months. These convoys travel to the Stone Haven temple gateway for final shipment back to Drasa where the refined crystals are processed for use by the Dratoul in every way from food to power for thier starships to recreational stimulants. Since the agreement, 30,000 Girants of different classes have been stationed in and around Stone Haven along with nearly 2,500 A.I. units as per the terms of the deal. The agreement has been prosperous for both parties allowing Stone Haven to remain independant from the CS and growing in size while allowing the waning amounts of naturally formed psi-crystal in the Drasa system to be supplimented. There are currently plans to build a small military outpost around the lake which will act as a larger collection point for the convoys but the Conclave has not yet authorized it's commencement until the current CS threat has lessened.
