| Title: Hemorrhage Author: Priscilla Chapter 11: In Love and War Riddick was placing new chambers into his guns and pocketing the others. Jack watched him through the corner of her eyes as she discreetly did the same with hers. He'd become eerily quiet, more than usual after they'd gotten back to the hotel. He hadn't even looked at her once, this whole time. "Riddick?" He didn't turn to look at her, just kept arranging his "gear" as he called it. "Cop knows the truth now Jack. You'll be safe." Riddick said tightly tying up his boots. Jack's anger flared but she kept it tightly in control. "Safe? What about you?" "It ain't over for me yet." He said fully turning his back on her to sneak a look out their small window to the street below it. "So what are you gonna do? Kill all of china town to get to Wei?" Jack asked incredibly. She could feel her control easily slipping now. "I can't run away from my battle." He said shrugging his shoulders. "There's a difference between battle and suicide Riddick." Her anger exploded when he refused to look her in the face as she said that. "Don't do this again. Don't shut me out and walk away from me like you did on New Mecca!" Riddick sighed at her outburst and ran a hand back against his shaved head. "I need to end this Jack." He said as if that comment explained everything and she should understand. Jack replaced her guns into their holster on either side of her hips and shrugged on her jacket. "So let's go." She said simply, eyeing his reaction. Riddick's face furrowed and he shook his head. Removing his goggles, he closed the distance between them. "You helped me save the kid." He said offering her a way out of her decision. To be able to say that she did her part and now everything else was on him to finish, but of course she didn't. "I know." "So then why do you want it?" Riddick asked, his throat suddenly constricting as her face softened. Her blue eyes shining with admiration that to this day he was convinced he didn't deserve. "Because somewhere along the way, a developed a problem with watching you die." **************** "I believe he'll come here next, Mr. Wei." Stoneham said to his boss from his seat across the table. A muscle in the old man's jaw twitched impatiently. He wasn't entirely happy with the fact that two especially sent for mercenaries were dead; it cost a lot of money just to get them interested. The police were all over his warehouses, impounding everything in sight and now Riddick was coming to his home. Unbelievable. Riddick must be the devil personified. "Good." He finally answered when he noticed Stoneham still waiting for a reply. He watched as the other man slowly cleaned both of his guns and replaced the old bullet chambers with new ones. His nonchalance at being faced with a remorseless killing machine such as Riddick unnerved Wei but he shrugged it off. When push came to shove, there was no way Riddick would be able to get past his security. No fucking way. Almost as soon as those thoughts crossed his mind’s eye every single alarm in his household began shrieking. "Stay here sir, I’ll take care of it." Stoneham said getting up and walking out of the room. Wei immediately locked the door behind him and closed all the windows. He was scared shitless and he knew for the first time in his life, his money would not get him out of this. Title: Hemorrhage Author: Priscilla Chapter 12: Showdown Riddick slowly wiped the blood off his shiv making Jack shudder as she looked around them. Bodies lay everywhere, blood decorated the floor and walls, not mention their clothing, like teriyaki glaze on chicken. If there was anyone left in the house it’d been shear luck on their part. Her head snapped to the side as she heard a noise and then three men stepped up from the shadows. Two dressed in army fatigue and one dressed in an expensive suit. Jack almost laughed at how ridiculous they looked, but thought better of it when she saw the firepower they were packing. She heard Riddick growl from beside her and step forward. "Where’s Wei." Riddick seethed at the man dressed in the suit. Stoneham shrugged his shoulders and smiled. He made a gesture for the two men behind him to move forward. In the blink of an eye they were both of the floor, twitching involuntarily at the sudden shock of death or being that close to it. "Never mind, I'll find him my damn self. Always did like chasing my prey before ripping it to pieces." Riddick pointed his gun at Stoneham and nodded to Jack. "Keep an eye on him Jack. If Wei’s not in the house, I’ll make sure to make him tell us where he is." Riddick smiled, one of those smiles that was meant to be hostile enough to freeze your blood. Jack nodded and moved closer behind of Stoneham. Once Riddick was out of earshot, Stoneham became really quiet. Jack watched him intently as small whimpers began to emit from Stoneham’s throat and he started to shake violently. Jack ridiculously found herself stepping slowly closer the apparently wigged out man. In the blink of an eye Stoneham swirled around and violently knocked the gun out of her hand. Jack landed on her ass but tried to scramble to her feet quickly. Her injured knee buckled causing her to fall and hit her chin on the floor. The coppery taste of her own blood swirled in her mouth as Stoneham towered over her smiling down at her agony. He bent down to grab and handful of her hair and using most of the strength she had left, Jack brought her uninjured leg up to connect sharply with the side of Stoneham’s head. Unfortunately the force of the kick caused his body to land a few inches from the gun. Jack scrambled to her feet as he pointed; dodging around a corner as a bullet flew past her head. She busted through a pair of swinging doors to find herself in the kitchen. She found a small hiding place behind a large state of the art refrigerator. Then a thought struck her and she felt like slapping herself. She’d completely forgotten about the small 5mm handgun she kept in her boot. She quietly slipped it from her boot as the swinging doors were opened. "I'm going to find you Jackie girl, but you could jut save time and put a bullet in your head. If the position's were reversed I'd do it for you." Jack watched as he slowly came into her line of vision. Using slow but deliberate movements she pulled a cleaning cloth from below a fruit bowl, causing it to crash to the floor. Stoneham swirled in the direction of the noise and shot. Jack surged up from her position and pointed the gun at the back of his head. "Are you?" "Am I what?" Stoneham asked, turning his body to face her slowly. "Gonna put a bullet in your head now that the roles are reversed?" Stoneham brought his gun arm up causing Jack to fire. "All you had to do was say 'no'." She said as she walked over his body and went in search of Riddick. ****************** Riddick swiftly kicked down the door to Wei' study only to find the man pointing a Colt 45 handgun at his chest. "Don't you dare come into this room Riddick." Wei said his eyes darting from Riddick dark face to the bloody shiv he clutched tightly in his hand. Riddick stepped further into the room making Wei fire off a few shots. Riddick swerved and dodged the bullets coming at him causing Wei to step further back with his approach. "The boy will die Riddick and so will you." In one quick motion Riddick brought his shiv up and severed Wei's head almost completely off his neck. The movement was so powerful it sent the old man's convulsing body through the large bay window down to the wrot iron fence below. "Not in your lifetime." |
