Sailor Astolat is from a distant planet, far beyond this solar system, called Celestia. Celestia consists of two hemispheres: the north and the south. Between the two hemispheres lies the Null (ie: the equator). The northern hemisphere is ruled by Sailor Astolat and the southern hemisphere is ruled by Sailor Aquos. Celestia's moon, Luminos, is ruled by a sailor senshi as well, whom is known by the same name. Astolat and Aquos guard their home planet from their own respective asteriods, which are permanent fixtures within Celestia's orbit, and for which they are named. The only senshi to reside on the planet is Sailor Novus, aka the Null Guardian.

Haruko lives with her grandparents and uncle in the Juuban district of Tokyo. Although he is now retired, her grandfather owns a construction company. He likes to cook and garden in his spare time. Her grandmother is sweet, but very talkative. She likes to collect clowns and dolls. Haruko's uncle works in a video store. He likes to collect American comic books and action figures. Haruko is an animal lover, so she often volunteers at the local animal shelter. She also likes to write and is an avid reader of manga.
