Kawau Island
17 September 2005
With a short weather window opening up, Dane Hawker and I went to Tiri to check for the scallops. Someone has cleaned them out of the shallows completely - I didn't see a live scallie for the first 10 minutes, and then gave up after 20 minutes with not a single legal one. Dane found some deeper ones in the end.  Sad.
We headed to a spot at Kawau Island where I had seen some good trevs a few weeks earlier.  I found a couple in the shallows, and managed to shoot a 1.75 kg fish (4 pounds) from amongst the silver drummer.  Good for the smoker.  One of the local large butterfish joined him in the fish bin, together with a butterfish from Dane, and we headed back.
