My Birth Story
My journey began on November 8, 1997 at 10:55 A.M. My mom and Aunt Jenny was fixen to walk out the door to go to another town 30 miles away, when all of a sudden her water broke. She had just left my dad who was at a football game, because he was the coach for the 5th and 6th graders.(the only game they won all year, and he didn't get to see it. :-) Mom paged daddy, then she called the hospital and ask if she should come in because she wasn't "really" sure her water broke. They said to come in so they could check her. You see I came two weeks early, and she wasn't expecting me yet.
When she got to the hospital they checked her and said it wasn't time, but when they check to see if she was dilated, they "new" it was time her water had broke. She was dilated to only a one, but since her water was broke she was a keeper. So they had her walk for 30 minutes around the hospital while they got her room ready. After she got to her room they wouldn't let her walk to make sure she didn't get a infection, she had to stay in bed for 13 hours.
Once she got into her room, they had to put her I.V. in, but couldn't get it because her vains would roll. Several nurses tried but never got it. After about 12 trys or more, they went to get a specialist to come in to put one in her forehead with a baby needle. But luckly a little old nurse asked if she could try. (why not everyone else tried) and she finally got it. There where holes up and down mommys arms and hands.
Once they got her I.V. in, they gave her the "pit" to help her contractions start. At around 4:00 P.M. she was only dilated to a 1 1/2. So they increased her medicine. The nurse said that she was having usless pains, and not contracting. Her contraction were every two minutes, lasting five minutes long. The pains were really bad so the nurse gave her a shot to help her sleep. While she was in labor, daddy asked a stupid question. He asked when we were going to have another baby. I thought she was going to kill him while everyone else was laughing.
Around 8:00 P.M. mom got her "good medicine" (epidural). They had to do it twice, because the doctor missed the first time, and they had to take it out and do it again. Once her medicene kicked in she sat up in bed and watched t.v. Everything was going good except around 10:30 P.M. I needed oxygen. So mom got to where the pretty mask for the remainder of the delivery.
Around 11:30 P.M. mom told the nurse who just checked her five minutes before, that she was feeling pressure. The nurse said she was only dialated to a 7 so she would have "Dr.Homer" come in and give me more epi. so it didn't ware out during delivery. They said I had about 8 more hours to go. The nurse decided to check me again around 11:45 and said, "Well Honey, It's push time." Push time!!! I couldn't feel a thing, they just gave me drugs.
So on November 9. I was ready to come. Mommy pushed for about 45 minutes with daddy and grandma by her side, I finally arrived at 12:48 A.M.
