As they began their long walk home, both Ranma and Akane were silent, thinking about all the changes that had happened between them over the last few days.  First and most important of all, was finally admitting that they loved each other.

While they were walking Akane's thoughts began drifting towards their families.  How are they going to react when her and Ranma finally tell them about the engagement?  Another thought plaguing Akane's mind was When are we going to tell them?  It might be better to tell them now instead of waiting for later.

Noticing that Akane looked worried about something, Ranma turned to her and asked her what was on her mind.

"Ranma, I was just thinking, maybe it would be a good idea for us to go ahead and tell our parents about our plans.  They might be able to help us with some of our problems.  Another thing," Akane said starting to look a bit embarrassed, "they could help us with the wedding plans.  I'd kindda like us to get married before we go to the university.  That is, if you want to.  And if you think about it, it's not really that far off."

Hearing this, Ranma decided that it might be better if they sat down and talked about this.  Taking a quick look around, he soon spotted an empty bench and guided Akane over to it.

"Akane," Ranma started, "Don't worry about rushing me into anything.  If I hadn't been ready to marry you, I wouldn't had proposed.  I just want to make sure you're not rushing yourself.  But Akane, if you said let's get married tomorrow, I wouldn't hesitate to say yes.  As for your thought about telling our parents, I think you might be right about that.  There are so many things they could help us with.  But one thing, do you think we could tell Mother first, I owe her at least that much."

"Okay, Ranma.  Maybe she'll be able to help me decide whether to have a traditional or a western style wedding.  Myself, I'd kind of like to have a traditional wedding."  Starting to turn a bit red, Akane continued, "it might be good for us to get married soon.  Look how far we almost went last night, and then again this morning.  I don't think either of us can hold out much longer."

With more than a little embarrassment in his voice, Ranma looked down at the ground and said "You don't have to tell me.  I'm just glad that one of us had enough of our senses left to know how far it was starting to go."  After a short pause, Ranma continued, "hey, why don't we hurry home and find Mom.  Then tonight after dinner we can break the good news to the rest of the family," he finished in an almost overexcited tone.

After sitting for a few more minutes in silence, they finally got up and continued on their way home.  As they walked, they discussed how they were going to keep the rest of the family from getting suspicious until after they told Nodoka.

"Akane, I was thinking, maybe we should walk into the house like we usually do, fighting.  That way we'd probably just be ignored.  You could even hit me with your mallet for that added touch of reality," Ranma said, hoping he hadn't insulted Akane in the process.

"Okay Ranma, and you can call me a violent tomboy like you used to," Akane said.  "Don't worry, I won't get mad this time 'cuz I know you don't really mean it.  Oh, do you mind if we stop by Taka's before going home?  I kindda told Miaka that I'd let her know how things went this weekend.  Besides, it'll give you a chance to tell Taka your side."

"Hey Akane, you know I don't talk about us like that," Ranma replied before realizing that he should of just kept his mouth shut.

Akane just turned towards him, gave him the 'yeah right' stare, and started laughing.  "Come on Ranma, now don't tell me that you guys don't gossip like us girls do."

"Okay, okay, you've got me.  I do talk about us.  To tell you the truth, I've been talking about you for quite a while.  Ask Taka if you want to know.  he's pretty much been the only one I've been able to talk about us to.  I've loved you longer than you know…"  Ranma suddenly stopped, realizing that he's said more than he'd planned to.

"And I you, you baka," Akane said as she put her arm around Ranma's waist.  "Now hurry up.  I want to talk to Miaka and still make it home in time for dinner."

Ranma was in a state of shock from what Akane had first said.  All he could do to reply is give a dumb nod and let her lead the way to Taka's.

When the couple finally arrived at Taka's apartment, Akane turned to Ranma and said "I hope they're more fully clothed this time.  It was kind of embarrassing  catching them off guard like we did the other day."

"Yeah, I was afraid you were going to hit me when you saw what Miaka was wearing.  By the way, do you know how long those two have been engaged?"

"I think Miaka said something like three years."

"It's kindda strange how close those two are," Ranma commented.

"Well you've got to remember that their engagement started out as their choice, unlike ours," Akane reminded him.
