| Pacific & Santa Fe as N-Track System - 1980 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The P&SF started out as a N-Track system consisting of 4 modules with three tracks on each one. The configuration was two 6 foot modules standing "back to back' with two 180 degree corners on each end forming a large loop. We had fun learning how to become "modelers" . We showed everyone in Columbus at the Ohio State Fair that the train display in the muli-purpose building was one of the biggest attractions. An N-Track module that I'd built soley for the purpose of touring the city and setting up at malls was photographed by Model Railroader magazine. That year the magazine came in an took pictures of all the scales that we had on display at the fair, I was just lucky I guess. I have my copy of the picture they presented me posted below with the authenticity stamp. |

| The P&SF N-Track Module Layout | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This is me back in 1982 running the 1st version of my Pacific & Santa Fe N-Track system. I scratch built most everything on the layout and made 100's of small pine trees. I located coal chunks and made rubber castings of them for rock faces.. Most of this layout toured central Ohio along with other modules from club members. We set up in many malls and exhibits. People back then didn't understand that trains can be tiny as well as large. My creativity was growing bigger and bigger everyday. I wanted more track and larger mountains. The layout needed more operational points so I planned a large city with a waterfront on a return module. The new modules were built. They were set up in position ready for track laying when a catastrophe struck and destroyed the railroad. Some of the engins and rolling stock were at a mall on display, thank God they were saved. I have pictures of the construction and track plan below. We moved out of state and never re-built another N-Track system, I wanted a permanent layout if I did it again. |

| Expansion Complete! Ready to lay track. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Its sad that this railroad no longer exists, but I learned quite a bit building it. Today, there are products that can make the job a little easier, but you still have to be a dreamer to use them. My next dream is the new P&SF Railway. I will capture its construction as I did the first one. |
