P&SF - Benchwork / Trackwork Phase
Started building risers and roadbed on the west side. This part of the layout will have scenery that looks like the west. It will have mountains, rock faces, tunnels, and tressels. Each loop is the turn around for the double mainline.
Next from the turnaround loops we have two levels of double track. These rails will be in the mountains with trains running along cliffs and gorges.
The staging yard is is the bottom flat area on the plywood. Trains will run the entire length of the layout 4 times before coming back in the yard. 75 Feet of track total for the entire run of the mainline.
This picture shows the different levels of track. . Both mainlines will be at the same level at the point where the camera took this picture. The track will dogbone around and come back. This scenery will be rolling hills and lots of water and pine trees. Maybe some tree covered mountains would look good like the ones out east. We can do whatever we want.
Track Work Starts
The roadbed was glued down with cove base, and the track was cemented with white glue. After the ballast is added the track should remain forever.

Track is blocked off in 10 foot blocks with 22 gauge wire from the track to 14 gauge wire as the buss.
Trains still run even though all the track is not down.
At the left, a triple header pulls a coal train with about 30 cars on one of the completed loops.
Notice the empty roadbed which will have track one day.
