"By abortion the Mother does not learn to love, but kills her own child to solve her problems. And, by abortion, that father is told that he does not have to take any responsibilty at all for the child he has brought into the world. The father is likely to put other women to the same trouble."
- Mother Teresa

"When we consider that women are treated as property, it is degrading to women that we should treat our children as property to be disposed of as we see fit."
- Elizabeth Cady Stanton

"If it's not life, what is it? If he isn't alive, then why is he growing? And if he's alive and a human being, why are we killing him?"
- State Rep. Penny Pullen

"Women are free to reproduce or not reproduce as they will. But once having reproduced, they shouldn't be free to kill their baby."
- Gregg Cunningham

"We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person."
- Unitarian Universalist Association Principles and Purposes

I consider myself pro-life, but I do understand the need for abortion for rare medical reasons. I believe that taking away a life through abortion is not a "right" or "freedom" and should only be tolerated in the most extreme emergencies. However, I do not believe that the best solution to the problem (at least right now) is to completely outlaw abortion. I believe that we need to fight this problem by reducing the need for abortions (through abstinence education, educating people about better options and choices, and giving support to mothers and families).
