Fielding Lowe

Fielding Low was one of the early settlers in the Big Creek Gap area of eastern Tennessee, which later became Campbell County. His first wife was Mary Swope, and from one of their daughters are descended many of the Campbell families of that county. His second wife was Sarah Bowman. I am the great-great-great-great-granddaughter of Fielding and Sarah, through their daughter Parley who married Jackie John Ayers.

Documents exist to prove that Fielding Low was granted 5,000 acres in Campbell County, acres that are now part of the Stinking Creek community. It's claimed that he worked the land without ever owning a slave. It's also said that he died at 104 years of age!
