Patrick Troughton was born in London on 25th March 1920. He joined the Navy at the age of 20 and remained there for 5 years.
He did his first TV in 1948. He appeared in a number of films, including the Scars of Dracula.
On the 29th October 1966 the first Doctor regenerated for the first time and Patrick Troughton became the new Doctor which he was to play for 3 years.
He appeared in 21 stories in his time as the Doctor. For the dates these were broadcast click here
There were a number of special guests who appeared in Doctor Who whilst Patrick Troughton was the Doctor.
He died in 1987.
