Enough rambling...
Recap: Chris and Rita find Jessi and bring her home. Rita and Brenda play catch up and Jax and Chris get to know each other better.
R: What's that supposed to mean Jax?
B: You don't even want to know Rita. You don't want to know.
R: Okay. I can find out anything you know.
J: Yeah we know.
Rita's cell phone rings
R: Sgt. Lance
T: Rita, it's Tom.
R: Hi Tom. What's up?
T: Rita, Cass lost the baby, and she's really upset.
R: Are you there with her?
T: Yeah. I'm outside though.
R: What room is she in?
Tom gives her the room.
R: Okay. I'm going to call her.
T: Thanks Rita.
R: Hey, both of you are special to me and Chris. I wouldn't let either one of you down right now. You know that.
T: I know.
R: I'll let you go so I can call Cass.
T: Okay. Bye Rita.
They hang up the phones.
B: Everything okay Rita?
R: No. My friend Cassy lost her baby, and she's all shook up about it. I'm going to call her real quick.
B: You can use my line.
R: Thanks Bren.
Rita walks into the study and picks up Brenda's phone.
They connect her straight to Cassy's room
R: Cass, it's Rita. How are ya?
C: Rita, I....(she starts crying)
R: Cassy, it's okay. You've got a long life ahead of you.
C: I know. I just...
R: Cassy, listen to me. No one else knows this, but when I was in college I dated this guy, and I got pregnant. But 3 months into the pregnancy, I miscarried. I know what you are going through.
C: How'd you get through it?
R: I haven't yet. The baby would be a teenager now and I still think about the baby once in a while.
C: Where are you?
R: In Port Charles New York. Do you remember my friend Brenda?
C: She the one where her ex-fiance kidnapped her baby?
C: What about her?
R: Me and Chris brought the baby back to her and her husband yesterday and we are staying a few days. Brenda told me earlier that she was afraid they would never see their baby again.
C: I can understand. I mean I'll never get to hold my baby.(She breaks into tears again)
R: Neither did I Cass. That's why I told you so if you need to talk, just call me at the house there in Palm or call me on my cell phone.
R: Get some sleep okay.
C: Okay. I'll call you later on if that's okay?
R: Of course. I'll have my cell phone on. I'll talk to you later
Cassy. Take it easy okay.
C: I don't know if I can Rita.
R: Yes you can Cassy. You are strong. I didn't think I could take it easy after either. But I finally realized that if I didn't get sleep I would wear myself down and I don't want the same thing to happen to you.
C: Okay. Bye Rita.
R: Bye Cassy. Get some sleep.
They hang up the phone. Rita walks back into the other room
R: Thanks Brenda.
B: How's Cassy?
R: Not good. She's having a real tough time.
B: I bet. Did I hear you say something about you going through it too?
R: No. I was talking about a friend.
B: Okay. I'm going to lay Jessi down. Be right back.
Brenda walks upstairs and lays Jessi down.
R: I'm getting sleepy, so I'm gonna call it a night.
B: Okay. You and Chris are in the room across the hall and down one from the nursery.
R: Okay, thanks Bren. Comin' Chris?
C: In a little bit Sammy.
R: Okay. She kisses him and heads upstairs.
J: Why did you just call her Sammy, Chris?
C: There's this golfer that we both like, Slammin' Sammy Snead.
So one day, I just called her Sammy, and it's stuck.
J: That's sweet.
C: She likes it, and so do I.
J: That's the important part.
C: I'm gonna head to bed. I'll see you in the morning.
J: Good night Chris.
B: 'Night Chris.
C: See ya.
When Chris gets upstairs, he finds Rita waiting up for him.
C: What are ya doing up Sammy?
R: You know that I can't sleep without your arms around me.
C: I can't either. You know those days I was in Miami?
R: How could I forget?? I didn't get anything done at work.
C: Well, what about when you went home?
R: I changed clothes and I tried to get work done.
C: Did you ever get any sleep?
R: Once I put on your Michigan sweatshirt and snuggled close to your pillow, I still couldn't fall asleep. What about you in Miami?
C: Not a wink. Even though we talked on the phone, it wasn't the same.
R: I know. I guess you spoiled me by letting me sleep in your arms every night.
C: I guess I have huh?
R: Yeah. I don't know about you, but I'm sleepy.
C: Aw Come on Sam. You don't wanna, you know...
R: Not tonight Chris. Sorry.
He gives her his infamous Lorenzo puppy dog face(Those of you who watch Silk know what I'm talking about).
R: Chris, I said no and I mean it.
C: Come on Rita. I know you want to.
R: No way. Besides, Jessi's just down the hall and I don't want to wake her.
C: Party pooper.
R: I'll make it up to you when we get back to Palm Beach okay.
C: Okay. How was Cassy?
R: Not good. But I told her something that I've never told anyone else.
C: What is that?
R: When I was in college I was dating this guy and I thought that he was the love of my life, but he wasn't. I got pregnant and miscarried 3 months into the pregnancy. So, I know what she's going through.
C: Why didn't you tell me?
R: 'Cause I didn't think that anyone needed to know what happened to me all those years ago.
C: What ever happened to the so called love of your life?
R: I don't know. I did find my prince charming a few years later though.
C: Oh really?
R: Yeah, and I'm looking at him right now.
They start getting drowsy and fall asleep in each other's arms
