New Maintainer Needed For ScanDisk
posted on 06/Nov/00.
Well, as some of you know...my time here is almost up. On November 15, I'm leaving for Marine Corps boot camp for 3 months...so I will not be able to participate in FreeDOS until boot camp is over. However, I do have 1 active project that demands attention. ScanDisk. I need someone who is willing to be the maintainer of this program...Someone who has time to make sure that it gets worked on and can make significant improvements in it. I've been working on ScanDisk for a while now, and myself and Imre Leber have made several very significant improvments in it since it's first conception. The ScanDisk Interface code is based off of Defrag's. A lot of the user-bility (how the user uses it and how it behaves) is already complete and stable...yet to be implemented are the actual scanning and fixing routines. Current version is 0.5. If you would like to be the new maintainer, please email me and I will get back to you.
You will need to be very knowledgeable with C and Assembly in order to take on this project.

Start finished
posted on 02/Oct/00.
Finally, after much work, the FreeDOS Start command is finished. It is written off of the Start.exe that comes with Winblows 9x. I've included at definition file with support for many extensions. If there is an extension that you want, and it is not already included, add it yourself. I will not return any emails asking me to include a specific extension. There is a detailed text file that goes over every intricate detail of how to add the extensions yourself. To download Start, place your mouse over this text and hold down the left mouse button for a second...then release.

An even newer version of MEM released!
posted on 05/Sep/00.
I have made my last improvements on the MEM command. It is my belief that MEM now works the same as the M$-DO$ MEM command. I have vanquished all bugs that I'm aware of and done a lot of beta testing with it. I have also added some more features including giving MEM the ability to detect which operating system is running. If you think this would be a good program to have, download it.

A while back, a FreeDOS programmer wrote a program similar to the Start.exe program you find with Win9x. It was written in BASIC, so I'm going to port it to C, give it a little more functionality, and make some small improvements on it. More news to come...
