As Air Force Colonel Jack O’Neill, Richard Dean Anderson continues the saga established by MGM’s 1994 hit motion picture Stargate. Handsome Daniel Jackson is portrayed by Canadian actor Michael Shanks. Daniel is instrumental to the SG1 team because of his great knowledge of ancient languages and past cultures. Although Daniel isn’t quite the action ‘hero’ his character brings a humanity and innocent curiosity to the SG1 team.
As the youngest of two brothers born in Vancouver and raised in Kamloops, British Columbia, Michael Shanks discovered acting while studying business at the University of British Columbia. After graduating with a bachelor of arts degree in Fine Arts, Shanks traveled to Ontario, spending two seasons with the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. His theatrical credits include "Amadeus," "Macbeth," "The Merry Wives of Windsor," "King Lear," "Merchant of Venice," "Love of the Nightingale," "Translations," "Wait Until Dark," and "Loves Labors Lost." No One but the lovely Amanda Tapping can bring the strong yet beautiful Air Force Captain and astrophysicist Samantha Carter to life. One of the most dedicated members of SG1, Sam uses her knowledge of science to rationalize and solve many of the problems that SG1 face in their travels throughout the Stargate.
Born in Rochford, England, Tapping and her three brothers were raised in Toronto. After graduating from the University of Windsor School of Dramatic Art, Tapping dedicated herself to the theater, performing in such productions as "Steel Magnolias," "Look Back in Anger," "The Lion in Winter," "Noises Off," "The Shadow Walkers," and "Children of a Lesser God." Tapping appeared in several Television commercials, all the while practicing what she enjoyed most, writing improvisational comedy. Tapping’s belief that comedy opens people’s minds, lead her to co-create a Canadian comedy troupe named Random Acts. Tapping has guest stared on such television series as "The X-Files," "Due South," "Forever Knight," "Kung Fu: The Legend Continues," "The Newsroom," "The Outer Limits," and "Flash Forward." She has appeared on television films such as "Lessons in Love," "Remembrance," and "Degree of Guilt." Her film credits also include "Booty Call" and "Rent a Kid."

The Stoic alien Teal’c, Apophis’ former personal guard, is portrayed by Christopher Judge. Hailing from the Jaffa, a race of aliens who serve the Goa’uld as hosts for their young, Teal’c recognizes that SG1 is the greatest hope to secure freedom for his people and others enslaved by the Goa’uld. Although his being a (Goa’uld carrying) Jaffa at times presents a problem, his stern demeanor and shear size demands the respect of all who come into contact with him.
Part African American part Cherokee and the eldest of two brothers, Los Angeles native Christopher Judge studied telecommunications and film at the University of Oregon on a football scholarship. Judge became a three-time All-American football player as a defensive safety and played in the Hula Bowl, however acting was always in his heart. He traveled to Oregon and there entered and won a contest to host a morning radio show. This stint as a DJ helped Judge break into acting and soon he began studying at the Howard Fine Studio in Los Angeles. Judge has appeared in several television series such as "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," "MacGyver," "Martin," "21 Jump Street," "Wise Guy," "Gabriel's Fire," and "Sirens." His list of film credits include "Bird On A Wire," "Cadence," "House Party II," "Little Feet," and "The Glory Years.”
Off the set, Judge enjoys playing golf. He devotes much of his time to the Boys and Girls Club of Canada.
General Hammond is almost as accomplished as the veteran actor who portrays him, Don S. Davis. Major General Hammond is the no-nonsense commander of the Stargate project. He oversees all the Stargate teams and ensures that military regulations are closely followed. More important than regulations to Hammond, however, is the safety of the members of his SG teams. He often appears tough and unapproachable, still, he asks no more of his officers than what he is willing to do himself.
Davis, The youngest of four children, was born and raised in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri. He studied theater and worked in the scene shop at Southwest Missouri State. After serving for three years in the U.S. army, earning the rank of Captain, he attended Southern Illinois University where he received his masters and then a doctorate degree in theater. Davis eventually moved to Vancouver and began teaching at the University of British Columbia. Don credits his acting career to Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Greenburg who gave the actor a guest starring role on the popular series "MacGyver." Since then, Davis has made guest appearances on many television series including "Twin Peaks," "Madison," "Slick Air," "Broken Badges," "Wiseguy," "L.A. Law," "Northern Exposure," "Knots Landing," and has played Scully’s father on "The X-Files." Additionally, Davis' television movie credits include "In Cold Blood," "A Dream is a Wish The Heart Makes," "One More Mountain," "Columbo: A Bird in Hand," "Dead Ahead: The Exxon Valdez Disaster," "Omen IV: The Awakening," and "Kurt Vonnegut's Theatre: All the Kings Horses," to name a few. His numerous motion picture credits include "The Fan," "Alaska," "A League of Their Own," "Hook," "Hero," and "Look Who's Talking."
As if teaching and acting wasn't enough, Davis is an accomplished painter and sculptor whose work appears in many museums and private collections. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Sandy, and their son.
