REVIEWS

Click Here for a personal, intriguing review by a former drug addict.

"...in Scar Tissue , Anthony Kiedis defies the rock star clichés. In his telling, we can see everything he has done has been part of a passionate journey. Kiedis is a man "in love with everything" -- the darkness, the death, the disease. Even his descent into drug addition was a part of that journey, another element that he has transformed into art."

"its an excellent but at times quite depressing read" (anonymous)

"The book is written in a very approachable, friend-to-friend voice. So you feel like you're listening to someone you know tell his life story to you on a long train ride or something. And you hang on every word because his life has been so interesting. Plus, he tells his story with a lot of introspection and with a sense of humor. So you think things through and laugh right along with him. He does seem a little self-congratulatory on his extraordinary sex life (for example, I wondered why he chose to show topless photos in the book of 2 of his more important girlfriends). He also seems a little detached about his childhood (there's got to be some anger in there somewhere.) But really these anomalies just add to many fascinating points of interest in a very honest, giving, and brave book."

Red Hot Chili Peppers have completed recording their new album, By The Way. The record, produced by longtime RHCP knob-twiddler Rick Rubin, was mostly recorded at Hollywood hotel Chateau Marmont(where singer Anthony Kiedis used to live) and is scheduled for release in late June. "We have tons of songs", says Kiedis, who described the album as "very emotional. I've cried a few times".

REVIEW OF SECRET LONDON GIG - WWW.NME.COM

"Red Hot Chili Peppers played a rare, low-key London show last night (May 31) in front of a largely invited audience.

The four-piece took to the stage at the Highbury Garage for an hour-long set, a rare outing in front of so small a crowd – around 400 people were packed in. It was their first indoor UK date since December 1999.

The band debuted just three, untitled, new songs from forthcoming new album 'By The Way', keeping instead to their greatest hits. As well as ‘Scar Tissue’, ‘Give It Away’ and old Chili Peppers standard ‘Power Of Equality’, the band closed their set, following a two song encore, with their classic ‘Under The Bridge’.

The group said little during the entire show, with the most distinctive thing about them being bassist’s Flea’s blue hair.

Red Hot Chili Peppers return to London for a show at the Dockland’s Arena on June 26."

A special thanks to Euan Ross, fanclub member #1076, for supplying me with updates about the Peppers!
