Do your printmaking while visiting
Costa Rica!
The Bastidor Solitario Workshop was founded in 1996 by Jorge Crespo and Maria Teresa Perez, both
graduated artists of the University of Costa Rica. Aside from being
our personal studio, it has also been a meeting place for local
artists and friends.
Now, the Bastidor Solitario is opening its doors to all those artists
or art lovers who may want to
visit Costa Rica and at the same time develop their personal work within a homelike
but also professional environment.
The workshop is located in our home 4
kms East of downtown San Jose, in San Pedro de
Montes de Oca, close to the University of Costa
Rica. San Pedro is well known for its university
life and dynamic commercial activity.
At this moment the workshop is
focused mainly in the
techniques of collagraph, woodcut on plywood or trupan,
monotype and metal etching, this last one on formats no larger than
8¨ x 11¨ (plate), using electroetching for burning.
We have two presses and also a Metal Halide lamp for
those who want to work with ImageOn.
The maximum number of artists/students per group is
five and we charge 25 US$ per four-hour session per person.
