On a very sunny & hot day (over 30c by mid afternoon) myself, 1 Ranger, 2 Guides, 3 Brownies & 3 Pippins plus a couple of Mums got together for a fun day at Mataura. We were joined by other family members for a BBQ tea and our Regional Co-Ordinator joined us for our Picnic lunch.
As it was fine it was a totally outdoor day and the activities we did are going to be our entry for the Sandra Mitchell Memorial Outdoor Trophy. This year there are no set clauses to do, just a challenge to complete 15 outdoor activities from 1/11/08 to 31/10/09. Doing all 15 activities in a day was our challenge bit, and it was, but we did with time & possible activities to spare.
Our 15 activities were ceremonies (2x linking, 3x promises), glass painting, soap making, ropes, hoops, picnic lunch, blowing bubbles, kites, boulles, water balloon fight, ice cream eating, be seen Guiding walk, playtime, chalk art, BBQ tea.
With such a variety of activities the girls were kept busy, happy and were able to mix with different girls for different activities. Some of the activities were more suited to older girls but with the help of Mum's & Leader even the Pippins managed everything but the time at the playground was definitely for the Pippins although the other girls loved it too. And most popular activity - well in heat like we had it had to be the water fight!
We would like to thank the Mataura units for the use of their hall & grounds.
