WHAT ARE GUIDES?
The Guide section is for any girl aged between 9.5 and 14.5
Our programme is based on 8 basic ideas
Faith - What I and others believe, Promise & Law
Fitness - Physical and mental
Heritage - Family, Guiding, New Zealand
Leisure - Crafts and other spare time activities
Lifeskills - Cooking, sewing and other domestic tasks
Outdoors - Camping, conservation, animals
Service - At home, school, community, worldwide
Technology - Computers, disabilities & other science activities These are all incorporated in the activities that the girls undertake. The skills are taught in a fun way and the girls remember and use them throughout their life.
There are 4 major types of Badges/Patches that the girls can work on:
Theme Programmes
Patrol Patches
Unit Badges
Specialised Badges
The ultimate badge for this section is the Guides Aotearoa Award. This involves gaining a number of the above badges as well as running their own camp.
Since our current programme was introduced in 2000 we have done lots of the badges on offer plus some of our “own choice”.

Start or continue a collection of quotes, poems, prayers etc

Codes, foreign languages, tracking & other spycrafts
What was it like to be a Guide 30...40...50...60 years ago?
“Smiley Spot” helped the
girls with the different activities.
Teaching girls to be future leaders is another part of Guiding.
ANIMAL ANTICS
This badge is for girls who have a pet. Also learn about SPCA and endangered animals
BOOTS 'N' ALL
This badge is more suitable for girls who live on a farm or enjoy the rural lifestyle. Learn about farm animals, plants, fishing & weather
FINDING NEMO GOOD TURN WIDEGAME
This was a game in which Mum's put clue cards in & around the house in appropiate places.
Guides followed the clues and did Good Turns for Mum by cleaning the house.
