Papa & Moma (aka Rick & Joan Grimes) You have spent countless hours, sick days from work and dollars to be with Shawn in the hospital, here in Anchorage as well as Portland. Never in a million years could we repay you. You mean the world to all of us. Every little boy should be so lucky to have a Papa and Moma like you.
Dr. Scott Wellmann, (Shawn's pediatric cardiologist, Anchorage, Alaska) You are not only the most amazing doctor, but our friend. How lucky we our to have you in our lives, I hate to think of what we would do without you.
Dr. Jeff Penman (Shawn's pediatrician, Anchorage, Alaska) I cannot express to you my gratitude for just how well you care for our son. You are so fun and so interested in every level of Shawn's care, your calling must of been to be a doctor, because you are the best. Thank you a million times over for everything.
Dr. Richard Mondsager (Shawn's pediatricain) We Miss You. You really are a great doctor, our kids all love you.
Ruth Sanchez ( a friend like no other, mother to Olivia Destiny Marie Sanchez 10/17/99 - 4/26/04). Without words you understand. We met in the intensive care unit and the friendship has been invaluable. I cry with you, and think of your Lovey often.
Uncle Jon (Fairbanks, AK) Besides Shawn, you are our very favorite "lil man". You are Shawns uncle and best friend. No one loves you the way Shawn does. Like his sisters, you have put your time in, in the hospital's intensive care unit with us. We all love you.
Amanda (Shawn's oldest sister, and future pediatric cardiologist) You have had to endure alot in your 13 years, but you have done so beautifully. There aren't a lot of kids that will camp out in the hospital with their baby brother and mom, 'just in case anyone needs anything'. You are the best big sister and most wonderful daughter. We are so proud of you.
Samantha (Shawn's older sister) Your tender heart has cried countless times alongside Shawn and myself. I don't think I could count the times you have silently prayed over Shawn when he was sick. You stand up to anyone who questions the scars on his chest or the occasional IV. I couldn't do a better job at protecting him myself.
Tanya, Brian, Ashlyn and Sophia Bell (Shawn's aunt, uncle and cousins) You have stressed out over Shawn and worried about him like he was your own. You call him your little Buddy and love him so much. You are the greatest....love you guys.
Lisa Miller (Shawn's speech therapist) Your work with Shawn has helped him improved dramatically. Your patience is remarkable, since you have a 2 year old, a rottweiler, beagle and chihuahua always interrupting. Shawn has bonded with you and looks forward to his time with you - and George and I are amazed at the advancements in his speech since you have been working with him, we thank you and appreciate you so much.
Ms. Jerri, Ms. Debbie and Ms. Janice:(Shawn's preschool teachers, Ravenwood Elementary) You spent three years with Shawn, watching him like a hawk. You visited him in the hospital and loved him more than I could have ever asked you to. You will never know how much I appreciate all that you did.
Dr.Dave McIrvin (Shawn's pediatric cardiologist Portland, OR) You were with us as we watched Shawn struggle through, and always demanded the very best for him. I could never say Thank You enough. Your campassion didn't stop with Shawn, as you were always looking out for George and I. One of my favorite memories are of when you loaned us the Volvo and Shawn and I drove to Cannon Beach for the day. I wanted my son to see the beach and you made sure I did so. You are the best.
Mary Rummell (Portland, OR) You have patiently answered countless questions and explained complicated heart surgeries in a way that I was able to understand them. For the gifts for Shawn, all that you have done for our family - Thank you. I wish we lived closer so that we could see you more often. Your my kind of people.:)
Dr. John Iguidbashian, Dr. Hagob Hovaguimian, Dr. Albert Starr (Shawn's cardio-thorasic surgeons, Portland, OR) You are brilliant, there really are no words to tell you how we feel about you and the superhuman efforts that it took to bring Shawn through
Lisa Mosley (Texas) It was your birthday the day Shawn was diagnosed, and you spent it with me in the NICU. We could never tell you Thankyou enough for everything that you did for our family while we were in Portland. We sure miss you.
Children's Hospital at Providence Anchorage, Alaska We have spent a lot of time with you there and have grown to love many of you. You do an amazing job, Thank You.
Michelle, Lisa and Mary, I can call you anytime, for just about anything, from prescriptions, to letters, to appointments, etc. and you never fail me. I really appreciate everything that you girls do. Legacy Emanuel Hospital, Portland,OR, My home away from home a number of times over the past 6 years. Shawn and I have a lot of memories from there. Good times, good times..........
George (Shawn's Daddy) The day your son was born, you couldn't of been more proud or happy, and then I watched as your heart broke when we found out how sick he was. Now, you appreciate him in a way most fathers wouldn't comprehend or understand. You work ungodly hours so that I am able to stay home with him. You protect us, provide for us, make us laugh and hold us all together. You are my best friend, the best man and the very best father.
