ANNANDALE CURLING CLINIC A SUCCESS

    An adult curling clinic was held at the club Saturday morning October 22nd, and was a success. There were 54 participants and 9 coaches. The coaches were Lesley Pyne, Tracy O'Leary, John Thain, John Smith, Rob McMulkin, Lori McMulkin, Brian Woods, David Dearness and Evan Heaslip.  Sharon Lalonde and Janet Alexander  helped the convener, Renee Lalonde, with registration.

 

    On Saturday November 5,  Annandale will host the popular Bantam/Junior Bonspiel.  It includes two 8 end games, lunch, snacks, and prizes for all.  Sixteen teams will participate in a Competitive Draw, and 5 of them will represent Annandale.  The non-competitive draw will not be held this running.  Amy Cousins will be the convener.  The first draw is slated for 9.30 a.m. and there is no charge if you want to see some of the youths in action.

 

    M&M Meat Shops has extended its title sponsorship of the Canadian Junior Men’s and Women’s Curling Championships through the 2014-15 season.  The 2012 M&M Meat Shops Canadian Juniors is to take place in Napanee, Ontario, February 4-12, with the winners representing Canada at the World Juniors in Östersund, Sweden, March 3-11. TSN will televise both the women’s and men’s finals of the M&M Meat Shops Canadian Juniors.
 

   On November 26, the new Annandale Mixed Doubles Classic Bonspiel is still planned for Annandale. At present there are 12 teams entered with the organizers hoping for 20 or more.  They are pursuing some name players from Bayview.  The bonspiel  features two-person mixed teams.  At $100.00 per team, lunch and dinner is provided.

 

    Next for team Mark Kean with Andrew Clayton and Annandale's Tim March and Patrick Janssen is the  Grey Power World Cup of Curling in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario on November 2 to 6.  Then they are competing in an Ontario Curling Tour event, the Nissan Classic in Brantford, Ontario  scheduled for December 2 - 4  followed by the OCA Ontario Men's Zone Dominion Tankard slated for Sutton on December 10 to 12.
